Allow for longer reviews?

I don't mean to be whiney, but could we possibly make it so that the review can be more than 800 words? I keep having to split my reviews for "fancier" vibrators between the review and experience sections. And now, I just reviewed a rabbit vibe for the descriptions program, and I couldn't even fit my experience section in; I had to post it exclusively at my blog, and it really nags me that I can't post everything I wrote here.

I get that I'm wordier than most, but would a 1000 word review body be acceptable? I could probably crop most of my reviews down to 1000 words.

The 800 word limit still feels pretty luxurious to me. After being used to cutting words out to fit within a 500 word limit and no "experience" section to overflow into, the 800 limit is really nice. I do think that reviews that are maxed out on word limit in both main body and experience sections actually are long enough to be a hassle to read. I will confess that there have been a couple reviews I have read the first portion and then scrolled past most of the body and read the end. I really try not to do that, but it happens mostly when I am interested in a product but really short on time.

I think adding extra details on your blog is a great idea actually. Just post a link in the "resources" section, as it seems to be going mostly unused recently anyways.

I do know what you mean though. I had that problem with the SaSi, though it is the only one thus far for me.

I honestly think I am just too anal retentive about noting every little detail about a toy. My OCD shines through, even in my sex toy use!

I agree that people scroll past things--I know I scroll past lube compatibility and stuff like that, since I already know it--but I still feel like that information should be there. I wouldn't feel like I was doing my duty as a reviewer if I left things out.

I just feel horribly guilty not having the entire review on EF's website after they're the ones who sent me the toy.

800 words is sometimes not enough for me, I'm a blowhard! I love to talk and I swear people love to hear me talk. The limit used to be 500 words, it was ridiculously short for someone like me. I hate having to chop a review in half to put the goodies into the experience section.. but I've tried it, I've had to edit myself many times and I think when I use a very critical eye my review is sometimes better. Chances are with more than 800 words I tend to repeat stuff, so I guess it's all for the best- cut the fat so to speak.

Most reviews are ok at the 800 limit, but with the descriptive projects I really try and note EVERYTHING. After all if I'm supposed to be an expert in it then I want to have all the details and that can, more often than not, be over 800 words.
