Nudity Tagging

Contributor: DiscretionAdvised DiscretionAdvised
I realize this is a lot to ask for, but I just thought I'd throw it out there. The videos are tagged if they have nudity, and I just thought it would be nice if this was expanded to the rest of the site.

Ideally, I wish I could exclude pornography from searches. In addition, it would be wonderful if all the rest of the product images would only be of the product, no naked models, with explicit images being tagged as such, with the option to enable or hide them.

I do like this site, and I'm open minded, but I would love to see more options to make it less awkward to browse around on. I realize it's a sex toy site, and maybe the majority of those who visit this site are okay with sexual nudity, but I try to avoid it out of respect for my wife. Maybe there are others who feel the same way?

Well this is an adult site after all. You have to be 18 to view it or consume items from it (21 in some states). 95% of the images on eden (provided from them, not user content) do not include any graphic nudity...nipples, clits, penetration etc. are all covered with the Eden leaf logo (even porn!) I like this. I think it makes Eden look more sophisticated than other sex toy online retailers.

I appreciate when people use their blogs to show graphic nudity. I prefer to not click on a review and go "Woah, hello nipples!". And for the most part, I have seen people do this too. However, it sounds like what you want is no nakedness even if it covers the graphic parts? I don't see this happening, and I wouldn't want it to either. It would be a programming nightmare with the 10,000 products we have now, user content, icons, forums, etc. Plus, I like the amount that is shown here. I wouldn't want it to increase much. I like that videos adult in nature have disclaimers etc. I think it's the perfect amount. It's what I would expect from a company that has class.

Out of respect for your wife, I don't think you'll find a sex toy site that has as much censoring on its images as Eden does. I think your wife would appreciate that you are here instead of elsewhere if you merely looking at nude skin bothers her.

It's an adult site. A sophisticated one at that

I totally agree with Lauren on this.

I'm not a programmer so take my suggestion with a grain of salt. perhaps EF could offer a "disable all images" option for account settings. That way you would have to specifically click on an image if you wanted to view it. However, I think it would be unreasonable to expect EF to police every image when they already do more than most retailers.

I agree that in the grand scheme of adult websites you could be on, this is probably one of your better choices if you don't want to be exposed to too much nudity. I understand where you're coming from, but it's also not like you're specifically searching out the products with the questionable images time and time again either. And with the exception of the pornography and the lingerie, there aren't really any models to look at either. If you don't search using the bar up top and instead to go the sections on the left side of the main page, you can search specific types of products without having to sort through lingerie or pornography that you may not want to see.

If you look at most of the places you'd see nudity on the actual site, most of it is blurred or has the EF apple on it.

I AGREE!

This is a sex site and if someone can't handle some nudity, then maybe their on the wrong site!

Hey guys. I agree with most of your points.

I mostly just wanted to throw this out there for some discussion, it was by no means a complaint. I do realize that this is a sex toy site. I wouldn't have brought it up if it weren't for the fact that for the most part, eden IS fairly modest when it comes to graphic nudity. Most of the product images do not have nudity, and there aren't sexual pictures plastered all over the website. The videos even have the nudity tag that displays a warning.

The biggest area where this comes up is that nearly every search comes up with many results for porn that DO have graphic nudity because the covers of the dvd's are usually graphic. If I just had the option to disable the porn in the search results, it would go a long way towards what I'd like to see when browsing the site.

I am an adult, and I use this site quite frequently. I'm not easily offended, but I would be lying if I said that I wouldn't be even happier if eden was even further customizable.

Honestly, I feel like this is a terrible attitude to have. There are a lot of people (not me, but I know several) who won't even venture out into the world of sex toys because of their aversion to pornography. Just because someone wants to improve their sex life doesn't mean that they want to see other folks naked. It seems like to me that you are saying that this demographic doesn't deserve to have this option. Given the amount of edited images already present on the site and the nudity tagging feature on the videos, it seems like the owners of eden don't agree with you.

Nudity itself doesn't bother me, but I know plenty of couples who would love a site where they could buy sex toys without having to see graphic images as a result. I know of a couple sites that offer this service, but most of them suck compared to eden.

Once again, I'm not advocating forced censorship. I'm just talking about an account setting where I can choose to turn off explicit images or at the very least, pornographic movies from showing up in the search results. I mean, other than the technical aspect of making it happen, it doesn't seem like that prudish of a request.

Seems like if there is a way to open the site up to an even larger portion of the populous, then it's worth consideration. If this never gets implemented, then it doesn't mean I will stop shopping here, but it will affect my decision about which people to recommend to this site, if I know they are uncomfortable with pornography.

I would like to add that even though it probably seems like I'm complaining, I actually do appreciate the work that eden does to keep the site classy. Probably not an easy task for a sex toy shop!

I agree Eden is pretty classy and appreciate that soooo much, but being able to exclude pornography from searches is a tool I'd be interested in and would definitely use.
