Hello everyone!

My name is Ilya, I’m a photographer here at Eden.
After reading the “Sabar” review by Safo Garcia, saying how the vibrator actually looks much better in person rather then on the website, I decided to start a topic about product pictures here on EdenFantasys.com
I would like to hear your honest thoughts, opinions and suggestions on the shots I take - if they convey the actual appearance of the product, how informative they are, how the product presentation can be improved and, basically, everything regarding appearance of any products on the website.
I will be happy to hear some healthy criticism as well.

Maybe introduce some new objects to pictures where you're trying to give perspective. I like the apple, but apples come in such a wide variety of sizes, and a lot of people don't have one on hand to compare to... say, a cell phone.

I really like the pictures that have a common item next to them, like the ones that show the toy by an apple. It is a nice way to get an idea of how large the toy is. I also love the real size feature, but wish it was available for more if not all the toys.

Overall, I've been very pleased with the product pictures. The different angles of the toys are very nice.

We have a great feature on EdenFantasys called Real size (right under the product image). It is created for better understanding of what the product size is. All you need is a ruler or credit card to scale the image and You are getting the product image in actual product size. Actual size right on your screen, no need for apples or other objects!

Sorry, the feature called VIEW ACTUAL SIZE and will be available soon for every single product where size plays important role. Now it is available for about 85% of our products.

Something I forgot earlier is that I think there should always be a close up picture of the controls when it is applicable. I really appreciate it when there is, as it is one of the more important features of a toy to me. I like to actually be able to read the print and see all the different buttons.

I think it would be great if you could do some pictures of the toys that light up while they are lit up. Also, it seems kind of difficult to catch the colors of the glass toys correctly. Not sure if much could be done about this but, I basically have no complaints about the pictures. They are a whole lot better than what they offer on other sites! Thanks for the hard work!

I love out pictures, but think the ones with a real sized object...maybe something like a quarter, or a tea spoon, or a bible (haha, just kidding), something that is more regularly sized would be awesome.

I really like the idea of the close up on the controls!

I've noticed that clear or white products (including condoms) are hardly visible on the typical white background. I would suggest getting a darker background for these products, and perhaps for clear condoms, adding some digital color (with a notice stating that the product is clear and the color is added for visibility) in order for the shopper to be able to view the shape and texture.

I agree that having at least one of the images of white products on a non-white background would help a lot. I also noticed that for some products (the Desi balls link in particular) the view-actual-size picture is not one where the toy is flat, which makes it more difficult to gauge the size.

I love the pictures, especially the apple ones and close-up shots. I've found that the items that I've received have looked exactly like I pictured them!

I agree: the photos and the VIEW ACTUAL SIZE option are generally excellent on this site. It would be cool if in addition to the VIEW ACTUAL SIZE, there were a quarter to help indicate proportion to the viewer.

I agree with most of the suggestions below, but thanks for taking such useful photos so consistently! Eden is really great about giving a wealth of visual information about the products it sells.

Well, I have never thought that some day I'll come across such as thread as this one, because I always considered Eden's photos to best part of the site.
However there are just a couple of general remarks that have been already mentioned like, white toys on a darker background (or at least adding some extra shadows) a quarter next to the toy, etc. but I'd also like to see a bit bigger pop-up window when you click on the photos.
And once again, thanks a lot Eden Photographer for providing so qualitative and well-angled pictures.

I've been thinking to replace apples with billiard-balls. That would be a nice replacement as they are almost same size and you (Eden Photographer) can even pick most appropriate colors for each composition.
... just some thought aloud...

Thanks everyone for the useful information, I’ll definitely keep all the suggestions in mind!
Heartthrob, LovingBookworm, Me&Me - unfortunately I can’t do pictures on any background other then white – regulations of the website. Exception is glow in the dark toys like Tentacle link
However, I will work on the shadows for better visibility.

Bulma, Essin’ Em – We do have close up shots of the controls for Dual Action and Rabbit vibrators, most other ones have a simple dial-base which, in my opinion, doesn’t need that kind of a close introduction?

About common objects in the pictures – like Pale Ada mentioned, we do have the actual size feature with a ruler, credit card and $20 bill to compare the product to. Will it be useful at all if we add a quarter to the actual size page?

Specifically bullet and egg style vibes could use close up shots of the controls, some have them, some don't. This may be solved by having a larger pop up window for the pictures, but I know that wouldn't have anything to do with actual photography.

Also about the actual size page, it is one more tab/window to have open. It is really nice, but a quarter would provide a general size comparison at first glance, whereas the actual size is more accurate but takes (very minimal) effort to look at.

i think in general you've done a fantastic job with pictures! Rarely, I've had a problem with the color of a product not matching the photo. (That's something that I rely on visually, not on the product description.) I don't have the expertise in photography to offer suggestions, but an emphasis somewhere of the actual product colors might help...

I think it would be great if Eden could get "real" models for their lingerie items. I know that some of the lingerie have pictures of models displaying the product, but there is usually only one angle shot on the model. I didn't realize how much of a difference a real model makes (versus a mannequin) until I was browsing EF's lingerie with my boyfriend and he commented that he really didn't even consider lingerie that wasn't shown on a real model. Clothes fit differently on a mannequin than they do on a real person. A real human body has a plushness to it, and real skin definitely looks different from plastic.

Besides that, I'd like to see close-ups of the seams and edges of fabric. Sometimes an item looks great from a distance, but then when you actually get it, it turns out the hems are unfinished and that is usually an unpleasant surprise if it is unexpected.

Otherwise, I love the hi-quality photographs that you have provided us with here at Eden Fantasys. Thank you for your work!

I just reviewed Doc Johnson's Japanese bondage rope, and the pictures on the website make it look really washed out. I got the red rope, and it is actually a very bright, vibrant red.

Other than that: no complaints! The pictures are so clear, crisp, and wonderful!

Oooh I agree - the mannequins just don't help me. And for visual people seeing lingerie in a couple of different sizes would help them gauge their options more wisely.

I triple request the sizes issue. Even one plus size mannequin would make me a happy girl.
