Changes for requesting assignment?

Contributor: Owl Identified Owl Identified
Has there been a change to this process that I missed? I browsed through this section of the board (the "Updates") to see if I did but I couldn't find anything.

I just requested an item that has one review on it. It asked me to provide a reason why my review would be better than or different than the one already there. As far as I always understood it, if a product only has one review than you don't need to provide a reason. I was under the impression that if there were two or more already there than you needed to do so. Has something changed?

Thanks for your help in advance, y'all!

It's been like that for a while now. From experience alone, it seems that if there is only one review on a product and that review rates the product three stars or lower, then you will not be prompted for a reason when you request that product for review. However, if the rating on the review is four or five stars, then you'll have to provide an explanation. I also remember one of the admins saying that the site recognizes two product comments (not full reviews) as the equivalent of one review. This was a while ago, though, so things may have changed or I may have misremembered.

Hmm...I know I did a review of the Infinity butt plug from Tantus as recently as December and I didn't have to provide a reason to be the second review. Sometimes I feel like EF changes stuff around so often that I never know what's going on O_o

I think sometimes when they're working on the system things glitch. I don't think any rules have changed, at least not that I'm aware of.

It's possible that item is out for review -- a second review -- and the system knows that?

Or, yeah, a glitch. Lol. I don't know. But no rule changes recently.

I've had this happen multiple times over the past few months, so if it is a glitch, it's been going on for a while. I, too, figured that I'd just missed a rule change, so I never mentioned it.

Yeah I'd agree that I've had this happen to me as well and just assumed that was the way things were now. Perhaps some had pending second reviews, but it's nice to know others have had the same problem.

I haven't had this exact thing happen that I can recall, but I have had to put in reasoning behind my request before, and I can usually come up with a reason that my review will be different. Normally, I can say I'd like to give a male perspective, but sometimes I have said that I'd like to come at it from a different angle and they have been reasonable about granting my request.

Well, I do not know. But I have always been prompted, even when there's a review on the product that ISN'T verified. It's a bit aggravating if it's a glitch, because there has not been one time where I requested a product with a non-verified review and I have not been prompted for a reason.
