Sounds interesting and I'll be looking forward to the interview. One question though, how does she link in with Eden Fantasys?

"Because then it came to us – the first person we want to interview is YOU! What, or rather, who we’re looking for is a well-meaning (or reasonably, anyway) volunteer who is…
- A registered community member on EdenFantasys
- A regular forum-poster and/or reviewer (onsite or offsite)
- Someone who has something to say and knows how to say it, and most importantly, WANTS to say it."

I thought based on those points it would be someone affiliated with Eden Fantasys. Maybe I've just missed everything from her on the forums, in this community and her blog.

I agree entirely and was completely stumped when I saw her name as the first interview participant.

Um, what exactly does she have to do with Eden???

Yeah. I've not been a major presence on the forums in the year I've been here but I've never seen that name connected with a review or site management or... anything.

Exhibit A: a sword

Exhibit B: me

Witness now in painstakingly awkward slow-mo as I hurl – no – heave myself onto said sword.

Exhibit C: me, impaled on sword

Yes, it’s true – the first interview, as it turns out, is NOT someone from the EF community. Yes, it is true that I said it would be. That’s a big-league oopsie on my part – please refer to Exhibit C.

As it turned out, we were ready to go with Sarah Dopp, so the interview service kicked off there. We’re still not ready yet on community end – and, for those of you who know me, you already know that one of my prime fetishes is tardiness.

So this is on me, gang. I apologize – we’re still going to do an interview with someone from the EF community, but, as you can see – not just yet. We are going to be changing our criteria as we go along – we’ll be looking for someone who’s willing to disclose as much about themselves as Ms. Dopp. In other words, we don’t want to conduct an interview with an anonymous subject. We’ll be looking for someone who isn’t anonymous, and has tangible ideas/theories/experti se to share on certain topics. And we ARE still looking.

I do ask that you participate in the Sarah Dopp interview; she’s quite a remarkable person with a lot of interesting ideas to share. And I promise – we WILL be getting to the community interview ASAP.

If you have any questions, or just want to forward me a little spur-of-the-moment WTF-iness, drop me a line at mrdobad@webmerchants.c om.

Well, I went to the interview page but I just couldn't think of anything to ask someone I really know nothing about.

I guess I'd have to read her blogs and get a sense of who she is in order to even have a question.

Meh. I'm not enthused about this.

Wait I'm confused... what relation does Sarah have with Eden? Is she a web developer here? I just don't know what to ask, I'm sorry.

I know. I'm at a loss, too.

Normally, you'd get a speech or see some works a person has done and then you'd have something to ask questions about.

All I'm seeing is a blog that's been updated three times in two months geared toward website design(?) and a couple of blogs geared toward the queer culture.

All of which is great but...

Why?

I mean, if we're going to interview someone outside Eden I'm thinking it should be someone a lot of folks have heard of and have an interest in. I'd have preferred a porn star or producor or author or toy manufacturer or even a sex blogger a lot of folks have heard of.

I'm just totally stumped on the "why" this person was picked and what we could possibly have to ask her with so little to go on. I mean, I'm not even seeing much of a bio anywhere, though I intend to explore her blogs further when time permits.

No offense to Ms. Dopp, of course. I'm sure she's a wonderful woman with oodles of interesting things to say.

Just a quick question.

Are we, perhaps, supposed to be learning to make our own websites and blogs "better" by interviewing someone who makes and improves websites?

I understand that many of you are curious about why we chose Sarah for the first EdenFantasys interview. You have many questions: Who is she? What does she do? Where is she from? And, of course, why her?

Well, to put it succinctly, Sarah is a very talented individual with a great perspective about the culture surrounding social networking and communities, much like ours. She has accomplished a tremendous amount in a short time and continues to be a community advocate, artist, and on the technological forefront.

She deals directly with many of the issues we discuss in our forums both on and offline.

Please take the time to explore the projects she is involved in, such as Genderfork link, The Writ link , and the Queer Open Mic link You can see some of the great technology she is working on here for Cerado link.

But don't take it from me - please just ask her: link
We’re thinking outside the box a little here. Come, play with us! Remember, what you get out of something is usually equal to what you put in

You say she deals directly with the forum- like the technical aspects or the issues the community members talk about here. What's her direct link to EF? So I know what questions to ask.

Maybe he means Sarah deals with the issues we discuss in her own life...

Eh I'll have to look through some stuff before I can come up with a somewhat intelligent question. Or else I'll end up like exhibit C.

At this point, I don't need another research project to intelligently ask Sarah Dopp a question. I am interested in what the members of the EF have to say as I feel I know so many from the forums and reviews.

I get that you're frustrated. I must say I was too. But after getting an explanation from both Misanthrope and Drewg I really can't expect much more.

At least we can all look forward to the answers after this interview... and hopefully next time around we get to learn more about an EF contributor!

I hope this doesn't make me sound like a royal bitch, but probably not. Why? While I'm sure Miss Dopp is a fascinating person with a lot of advice to give; I have no clue who she is and don't have the time to research her sites and adventures. I'll just read what everyone else asks.

You should check out some of the questions BackseatBoohoo is asking! Cute and clever and you don't need to know anything about her

**Plus they made me laugh.**

Okay, I have asked some questions though I'm afraid I will be exhibit D which looks a whole hell of a lot like exhibit C.......

I loved Backseat Boohoo's questions too! I can't wait for the answers! =P

::chuckles:: Hey guys. Nice to meet you. I'm Sarah. And you're right, I'm new here. Hi. Yeah, this is weird.

Okay, so forget the rest of the mixed messages; let's talk about sex. I'm co-founding a website called Boffery, where people will be able to document their sexual histories online and share it with trusted friends. In other words: a place to talk about the sex you've had with the people you're willing to talk about it with. The FAQ is here: link

As DrewG mentioned, this (and my Genderfork.com project) bring up huge issues around privacy, anonymity, personal relationships, etc. For those of you who are on EdenFantasys under a pseudonym, I'd love to get your perspectives on how that anonymity works for you, how closely you guard it, and what kinds of separation you need between the different parts of your life.

But wait. I just flipped the interview around. Umm...

To be honest, I don't feel like I have Wisdom to Bestow Upon You, and you're absolutely right -- you know nothing about me, so why should you care? But hey, since we happen to be playing to same game this week, how about this:

If you were thinking about joining a sort of "Facebook for Sex" website, what would you want to know about the site before you joined? What challenges would you think the site would need to grapple with in order to do its job right? What features would you like to see added? And what would you want to know about the people behind it?

And while you're at it, you can ask me why there are burns on my sheets from a vibrator experience gone horribly wrong...

*Chuckle in the shower*

I'll be looking forward to seeing more real names like Ms. Dopp, and not many from the EF community! Let's see... My name is DBD. I review sex toys, I write about threesomes. I teach preschool in the Bay area. Oh absolutely, I'm willing to risk my career and give up anonymity.

Count me out. I'll watch. I'll give an initial! "T"
