Eden in 2014 v. Eden in 2013 v Eden in 2012

Okay, so I joined EF in the Spring of 2012. Between then and the summer of 2013 I did over 50 reviews, spend hundreds of dollars at EF and stood by as we went through the point scandal. I have been on both sides, ultimately deciding to try to get my points back and have them converted over the a gift card that I could use at full face value and standing by the company. At that point in time Stormy was my contact person. I started a new job this fall and fell off the face of the Earth to everyone including EF. I logged back on a few weeks ago and started up again. A few things I have discovered that I'm not okay with. 1) The gift card I was told held face value and could be use in full to make purchases, does not any more and I could only use it for a fraction of a purchase. 2) there are things with the site lay out that I will have to adjust to and I get that.

Can someone please update me about any new rules and regulations that have gone into effect while I've been away. I was asked to do some descriptive review work and I am more than happy to do that as I enjoy writing I just want to know what state of EF I am getting myself back into. Additionally if Anyone from the old school days came back after deleting accounts I'd love to know so I can re-follow you.

Lots of love

Basically only applies to people who have been around for awhile. While I have only been a member reviewing since 2012 I have been visiting EF since mid 2011. So that is where my time line starts

I joined EF in July of 2012. it was a great time. I was so obsessed w/ EF. I was constantly online reading & reading reviews. I learned so much from those reviews. also, the forum was a great place to get educated as well as have some fun. since the huge changes from last June 2013, that all has faded to nearly nil. most of the reviews being published since last summer are poorly written & useless. I still don't understand why EF wants them published. they cast a huge negative light on EF. too bad everything has changed so drastically. this used to be an exceptionally fun & learning place to come to.....

The points were driving some negative things and it was obvious to anyone with the slightest business sense that it could not go on like that forever. I was lucky to get many free toys through the old point system. Yes, I took a lot of time to write reviews, but I liked doing it.

Unfortunately the way things were handled, some very good reviewers left mad and relationships were destroyed. There were a number who had left for personal reasons, such as Indiechick, Toytime Tim, JS250, etc. Reviews take a lot of time and life gets in the way sometimes. I have had some financial issues, so buying toys/lingerie has not been an option, so I have not had anything much to review as of late. I have a ton of points I will never be able to use under the new system only being able to use 15% of the price in points.

The rich point system did have a number of drawbacks. There were always poorly written reviews. The worst time for crappy reviews was during the double points phase. You could tell some people didn't even have the item and just wrote a review for points. The forum also had issues because people got points for posting. There were a lot of good topics and discussions but there were also tons of crap posts - like 15 variations of Women add 1 and Men subtract 1 from a number. Or if someone had nothing to contribute to the thread they would post anyway. For example if the thread was in the men on men, women on women section, heterosexual people would post things like "never tried that" or "not me". Why post if you have nothing to add or your insight is not relevant? Sometimes I just didn't go on the forum because you had to weed through so much crap to get to the really interesting and insightful posts.

Also it seems their are way less reviews, way less items for sale (especially lingerie). I was preggers and took a break and now I'm back and lots of things and different, uhg.

There have been many changes to the site, programs, etc. With no administrators, things really slowed down and there are some frustrations to the retail side of the site. HOWEVER--it is now up to us members to rebuild and keep the community areas going and informative--as well as fun and supportive. I will be contributing more later on, right now I am dealing with my husband's death last week and am here for the community support and friendship. I have found it very comforting to know there are people that really care when I need friends (and do not want to wake up or 'bother' my daily life friends).

It seems like there aren't as many items as there used to be for sale. Everything I've had wish listed over the years either never came back into stock or was discontinued. The new point system sucks. And... I don't find myself stopping by more than once a few weeks to check out the sales.

I understand the change in points (for business reasons) and yet still think the reviews and feedback give this very well designed website an edge over ALL the competition, in the adult toy market, that we have seen. However, if it revolves around the sale of toys, then unless there is a great selection, competitive prices and items "in stock", shoppers will indeed go elsewhere.

I joined the sight around mid 2011 and it was a beautiful, supportive, and bustling place. I learned so much about myself from being here with wise people who mentored me and helped me become a better writer. I had so much fun back then. Then, I got extremely ill, died twice on the operating table, and was hospitalized for a long time in order to recover. I recovered and finally decided to come back to my former happy place: EdenFantasys

What I found though was an unrecognizable, empty store. There are hardly any items for sale. All my wishlist items are discontinued or never in stock, people I once knew and was close to on here have vanished as well, and the atrocious point system has been implemented. I have seen some new reviews on here and was like WTF?! Who allowed this poorly written garbage through? It's like nobody really cares anymore. This is disheartening...

This place made me feel alive. I actually didn't feel like I had an incurable painful rare pancreas disease; I felt like a beautiful woman who learned to explore herself via this site and its products. It all seems like the old EF was a distant dream now.

There are still some people here who care and are good to talk to. I found this post of yours after seeing your review in the Task Market. I already sent you a message there, so I will just say welcome back! There was a recent announcement about a review program relaunch, so maybe that will pick up your spirits? Here is the link

Thank you so much for the link! I will be replying to your PM shortly. I really appreciate it that you are taking the time to help catch me up on things taking place here. In all honesty,I can't say it's good to be back quite yet, but your welcome back reminds me a lot of the good ol' days, so it definitely is a start in the right direction

I am in the same boat (almost). When I first started, EF had this rockin' review program. I could tell some people abused it, but for the most part, there were a lot of good writers who were creative and informative and definitely deserved whatever perks they were getting. I wasn't getting as many because I truly did not have the time to dedicate. That said, I felt like people earned. Eden had great intentions and started expanding things. Sadly, this made the review program easier to get into and other programs began. Eden also started branching out into articles and printed materials. This was almost too much. There weren't enough honest people to maintain such things and that made the perks too easy to earn and they were abused in such a way that I'm sure EF was losing money. I can understand why many things needed to change. Toward the end, when a lot of people were leaving and several people were essentially "fired", I had changes in my personal life that took me away from the site. I tried coming back a few times, but it seemed like NOBODY was manning the wheel and I would get no response to messages. Nobody seemed to know anything that was going on.

Simply put, I would love for things to go back to how they were when I first started reviewing. Simple guidelines, perks that were limited to certain parties who submitted reviews to people who REALLY read them and "OK'd" perks and a community that was streamlined and easy to follow and maintain.

Again, I think the intentions were good, but someone has to manage these things to make them work. Too many people ran wild with the ideas and maybe the community didn't deserve so many freebies.

NOW I have tried to request reviews and get involved and it seems like I don't exist anymore. I get no responses when I make an effort and I just wonder what has changed that I missed? Is it really all that different? I feel like I'm being punished when I wasn't even that involved.

I get your inquiry and I saw the program relaunch for reviews, but I had some things sit on request for over a month. Frustrating for sure.

I am still here and the points were never the draw--but a side benefit for being part of a community of intelligent, helpful, caring group of people.
