I requested to have this option removed, and I will explain why...

Because the Description Review Program, and more specifically assigning Description Review Items, is of the highest priority it is the first order of business each day (or sometimes even late the night before). So as soon as an item becomes available an assignment is immediately made so the entire Description Review process can begin as soon as possible.

The problem with assigning an item right away is that until that assignment is accepted by the contributor and shipped, it is still available for assignment requests. Then once the assignment is accepted, all of the requests that were made after the item was assigned have to be declined.

So because of the way this works, almost all requests for a Description Review item get declined; like the upper ninetieth percentile. I thought that having the option to request something that has most likely already been assigned, and is not available, was just unnecessary and possibly even discouraging.

I am very happy about the progress we have made in refining our Description Review Program, and I am even happier about the amazing job you all have been doing. I hope this decision to remove the request option makes sense to everyone, and I will be happy to answer more questions about this particular decision. less
