I really like the idea of the badges - I think it's a great way to acknowledge accomplishments and activity!

I also like the idea of virtual gifts. They're fun on FaceBook, and they're really easy to ignore if you aren't into giving/getting them.

I think the badge idea is a very good one. But I absolutely hate virtual gifts. They just seem so spammy and pointless.

Instead of having a virtual gift option, can we just expand the emoticon options as others have already suggested? By using these emoticons, we are already able to give virtual gifts in our forum thread comments and on wall posts (little drinks and rabbit vibrators and flowers). And we already have the option of finding a random photo to embed in our comments. Seeing a random photo someone found is actually funnier and more interesting than seeing the same image "gifted" over and over and over. (Sorry, but the virtual gifts just become grating after a while.)

I also like BBW's suggestion of being able to send someone a real, tangible gift that is not on their publicized wish list. I've often wished we could do this because there are many people who do not update their wish list, yet I know of something they might like (or of something they've said they want, but it is not on their wish list). Plus, it would be funny to be able to actually send a real gag gift at times!

"Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges!" lol sorry couldn't resist.

I like the colored badges, or maybe do like the Olympics and have bronze, silver and gold.

Notification of last log-on would be nice as well. All the suggestions so far sound good.

Maybe some badges that show what we have reviewed the most, like a plug for anal toys, a mini Fleshlight for stroker toys, a rabbit for vibes, handcuffs for BDSM and a mini glass dildo for the non-vibrating. These could maybe be under out avatar or just on our profile page. This might help folks know what we are 'experts' at so if they have a question they know who to ask.

LOL! Hahaha I don't have FB, so I don't know about these electronic gifts. When I read JR's post I was like, "Lobsters? wtf?"

I am up for badges! Maybe contributors could have a special stat section added to the profile, under our names or something, with our particular badges and whatnot on there?

I really agree with the ideas I have seen so far, a lot of the updating for me will be enjoying the forum being a bit more organized.

This would be a riot! It would be great if they did not know it was coming. I know it may not really work but it would be great when they post on your wall all the laughter.

I like this idea. It would be nice to get some way to gauge how many people are actually reading our reviews. (I'm curious as to how many people read and don't vote as well, since I ALWAYS vote when I read). Just thought I'd give my two cents

Wait—aren't self-fellating squirrels one of those things we just didn't know about and, therefore, just didn't KNOW we needed? Now that we know of the possibility of self-fellating squirrels, don't we actually need them now?

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the badges, and here's why.

For example: the badges for participation in clubs., how are you going to decide who's in the club? Is it who comes to the most recent meeting? Who's come once? Who's a super poster in the club?

Secondly, I think that badges add too much clutter. Where would they be shown? On the profile? When you hover over someone's name, under their rank?

I think that badges for number of reviews would be nice, as would an option to see last log-on date, but I could really do without the whole system.

I'm with Kindred on not informing everyone when we're online. It's too big sisterly. People can already see what I like to stick up my vagina. They don't need to see when I'm logged onto Eden. Also I usually keep my laptop running with a bunch of windows open even when I'm not at it. Someone might send me a message and think I'm being rude because I'm not responding when the truth is I'm not really there.

I also like BBW's idea about borders being reserved for staff members only. I think if we add any more colored borders to represent something it will be too much. I'm glad there isn't a different color border to represent each club. I don't think badges are necessary. I can find the number of reviews someone has written easily on my own, but they could be fun. Like Kayla said, they'd be like gamer achievements. Viewing it that way makes it more appealing to me. Knowing how many people have read your review or visited your review would be nice.

And I am SO with Selective Sensualist on the emoticons. They'd be much more fun and useful than virtual gifts (i.e. lobsters).
I'd like it if we could have moods to choose from or write in along with corresponding smileys on our profile page. Maybe that could also be displayed under our (hopefully) bigger pictures.

Now I'm just going to throw this out here--are chat rooms for clubs possible? This has probably been addressed somewhere else. I just think it would be much easier and useful. Hmm, but then I guess there wouldn't be a recorded meeting for us to go back and reread if we were late or couldn't make it altogether. Okay, maybe the chat rooms aren't a good idea.

A last log on date would be fine. I just don't want an icon or something that will say "online now."

I agree with this, too. I also leave up several browsers, and I am never logged off of EF. (I never have to sign in from my home computer.) Therefore, it would look like I'm on here 24/7. Even if it would accurately show when I'm on, that is just a bit creepy to me.

Yes, it's creepy to me too. I don't need people to know exactly when I'm sitting in front of my laptop. That's a feature that would be appreciated by online stalkers.

Agree. I don't want to know when anyone is online (or not online). I would be okay with something that says "Online within the last 1/7/30/60/90/120/360 days" or something of that nature.

I agree with this, especially the virtual gift veto. Kris also brings up a good point about using badges "...to encourage more communication between community members..." and to also subtly identify those who have knowledge on certain areas so others may find them to ask questions.

I think the badges will be highly popular with those who are major faces in the community.
Won't really affect me (having them on my account or not), but I kinda like the idea that I'll be able to see what others are in etc.

I agree with you on the showing online idea. I ALWAYS have Eden open - even when I'm sleeping. The laptop runs 24/7 and I leave my fav windows open all the time.
I don't want to come across as rude either - if I'm at my laptop, I will answer. But a lot of the time I may not really be there.

With regard to notifying people when you're online, almost every website that does that has a way to shut it off. So maybe we could add it, and add a way to turn it off?

The badges sound like an awesome idea.

Something I'd like to see, though, is a "karma system", for lack of a better description, for forum posts. Right now, we can favorite contributors, and flag posts as offensive but we can't "like" the posts we find really informative, or interesting, or whatever. I think that would be an awesome addition.

I think that badges would be great. It would also help if someone is lacking a couple of reviews to get a badge, they may review those items that they just havent gotten around to so they can show off their achievement.

I think that the messaging (mail) needs to have a new format, definitely. I also think it should be easier to go back and forth from the forum. I hate having to scroll all the way down to get to the posts. Maybe they can do some sort of "Tabs" system, where you can switch from tabs to see Recent posts, Your posts (specifically forum posts started by yourself), Top discussions, Calendar of events, etc.

I also think that profiles need a little bit of a makeover. Ranking badges would be really awesome. Something to show off on your page that says "I'm a 8.0/10" instead of just 8/10. Maybe some badges to show what you've contributed in, how many reviews you've done, etc.

I dunno about the rank thing. I'm not a big fan of participating and reviewing and voting just to help with rank. While rank is really cool, as with rank comes certain privileges (5.5 no submitting to an editor, 6.0 you can become a mentor and join the video review program, 6.5 you cap your price range), I think the general consensus around Eden is that they want their contributors to want to be here and love being here, not just focus on rank.

I think promoting rank like that could make people with lower ranks feel like their lower rank makes them a less valuable member of the community. I can attest that most of the people who are higher than a 6.5 really don't care about rank, and I really stopped caring about rank before I hit that. (not that when I was at 5.9 I didn't want my 6.0; or when I was at 6.4 I wasn't eager for my 6.5, but it wasn't my end-all-be-all motivator) There is so much more that makes a contributor a valuable member of the community than simply rank.

I'm more interested in seeing where people are contributing rather than where they stand in the rankings; but I'm a community-minded contributor. I'm not exactly review/rank/toy motivated.

I would say not even a registry, but just the option to send gag gifts. There could be a place in the checkout where it can give you the option to "Ship to Contributor" and you just have to input their name.

I could see this as potentially being offensive to some people, I'd like to see a rule/limitation: "Contributors must follow each other in order to send a gift"

I have probably 75 people who follow me that I don't follow... let alone people that I follow who haven't followed me yet. I wouldn't want someone I didn't know sending me a masturbating monkey or a penis ice cube tray, it wouldn't be funny. But Tim sending me the Pecker Glasses to wear to the next party would be HILARIOUS! Yanno?
