For water based, my personal opinion is that you're going to have a hard time beating Maximus. Pjur's Back Door has some relaxing properties, but it is silicone based, so keep it away from any toys that have silicone in them. Another alternative to Maximus is Ride H2O, but I wouldn't say it is better than Maximus it just has more natural ingredients.

We use Maximus, Anal Lube link (if you prefer a thicker consistency), and just recently tried Boy Butter link which is oil based. Each has advantages/disadvantag es.

Maximus is good, but since I'm sensitive to it now I like Probe for water-based. Seems to last a long time and doesn't set me off.

For anal use you can also try oil-based lubes IF you don't need to preserve the integrity of a condom, and those last a long time as well.

We use both Eden lubricant and the JO lubricant for anal. They're both water-based and, of course, not numbing for safety reasons.

We are actually quite happy with both of those, and the biggest problem with both is that they don't go in larger bottles

Because there never can be too much lube for anal!
