Does anyone get nauseous during anal play?

Contributor: Blinker Blinker
It doesn't happen every time I have anal fun, but sometimes I've noticed that when I insert a plug or dildo anally, even after thoroughly warming up and relaxing, I get a little nauseous. It's never been to the point of "holy shitballs get this thing outta my ass before I barf" and I never have actually thrown up, but still...there's this funny little feeling, almost like a gagging reflex. Has anyone else experienced this? The feeling fades quite quickly, but it is amusing.

The only reason I get nauseated during anal is because of what I went through a few years ago with an ex.

The nausea may be related to the fact that anal is considered "taboo" to most people. You may subconsciously find it to be appalling and feel yourself getting sick over it. I'm not a psychologist, though, so I really don't know.

I hope you can get past it!

Lol me too! I do have a therapist and I mentioned it to her, and she just laughed. I don't pay her to giggle, dammit!

My gynecologist is worse. Trust me. He laughs at my misadventures in sex and my issues with digging my NuvaRing out every month LOL.

So does mine! But hey, it's better than boring gynecologists who take everything too seriously.

Sometimes pain can trigger nausea in the body, especially if you are experiencing nervousness or elevated heart rate. From what I've been told, it's like an overdose of adrenaline. Try to relax as much as possible, use breathing exercises, and most importantly, go slowly and use a lube that feels comfortable. Anal sex should be fun, not strenuous.

I have gotten nauseous a few times, but it usually subsides. Pretty much any time that I am nervous or in psychical discomfort, I get nauseous. It doesn't really happen anymore.

Blinker, you are probably having a VEGAL REFLEX, where your heart rate and indeed your blood pressure are DOWN, and you can feel faint and nauseated. One way to help that feeling is to be VERY well hydrated before this kind of anal play and if it happens, to STOP the toy from moving for a moment and let your body "catch up". If you find the fainting or nausea getting worse, you need to remove the toy, lay down with feet above head level and let yourself recover. Any real episodes of this should be mentioned to a doctor as it could reveal an underlying cardiac issue. Not to be alarming, but just take your bodies ques as messages not to be ignored.
