Never tried it but this could be dangerous because your body will immediately absorb the alcohol through the anus. It gets in your blood way faster than drinking it and it happens all at once.

Alcohol would be absorbed much faster into the bloodstream if introduced in the intestine so it could very much be dangerous. It depends on the person's tolerance to alcohol but it would be akin to snorting or mainlining. You could end up poisoning yourself on a much smaller amount of alcohol than you would normally drink. It could burn the sensitive membranes of the anal cavity and ya it sounds like a pretty stupid risk to take to me as well. Still, it's your ass stick whatever you want up it.

I have heard of people actually dying from this because they didn't know that it goes straight to the bloodstream, which even when you drink alcohol it is somewhat possessed before entering the bloodstream where as this would be go directly into the blood. This means that it doesn't take nearly as much to give you alcohol poisoning and send you to the hospital. That's not a fun way to die, I would take the risk, plus it would be really embarrassing to have to go to the hospital and have to explain what you were doing. I think it's a really bad idea and just because it gives you a rush doesn't mean you should do it. Like Ecstasy, yeah it gives you a hella of a rush, but lots of people die after taking it.

No. The chance of dying from doing it that way is about three times greater since it goes straight into the bloodstream instead of dealing with just the stomach. A very small amount of alcohol is actually lethal if used this way. I suppose if you're okay risking your life for a buzz, go for it, but I'd highly recommend against it.

Also there is no chance for the liver to get involved because it goes straight to the blood all at once. And this would probably cause kidney damage due to the fact that the kidneys have to filter your blood and would have to filter all of the alcohol out.

Extremely dangerous. The media reported on this practice awhile ago as many kids were getting ill/dying from doing this.

That's dangerous, and no way to really tell if you ODed until you're practically dying right then and there.

This is NOT a good idea at all! (I'm a nurse and have seen the results of alcohol poisoning and absorbing alcohol rectally is VERY dangerous and very likely to land the person taking the "shot" in the ER in an alcohol induced coma.)

The rectum is a MADE to absorb fluid, as is the rest of the large intestine. They are lined with cells that go directly into the blood stream and any drug introduced into the anus becomes absorbed VERY quickly. Alcohol put into the anus will be absorbed faster and more "efficiently" than alcohol put anywhere else in the body, with the exception of injecting it (which is not recommended either.)

I don't know the exact numbers, but anal absorption is like 7:1 or 8:1. Meaning you absorb 7 or 8 times the drug placed in the anus as you would if it were taken orally. This is a GUESS as everyone is different and has different absorption rates.

When we want to get drugs or fluid into people quickly, we use either intravenous administration, infusion through the lower tibia or fibula (yes, it's as painful as it sounds, it's used when someone is SO dehydrated that they have experienced circulatory collapse and we can't get a vein, so we do a cut down and place the fluid directly into the bone marrow in the lower leg.) or anal administration. When someone comes into the hospital with extreme hypothermia, we often administer warm IVs and a warm enema, but we have to be careful not to cause water intoxication with the enema.

PLEASE don't put alcohol (or any other drug that wasn't meant for rectal usage) into your anus. It's asking for trouble, illness and even possibly alcohol poisoning severe enough to cause death.

I read about this a long time ago. It was more of a how-to for people doing it. I was always curious about skipping things like getting a sick stomach, but it just seemed to risky to experiment with. Hearing all of your replies to this are interesting, because this is the first I ever heard of anyone else ever talking about it.

Full-strength alcohol is probably also dangerous to the rectal mucosa (in addition to the increased rate of absorption - remember that your peak total concentration of alcohol will be much higher with a higher rate of absorption because the rate of elimination is constant.)

You'll still get the adverse effects, Gary, since you're still introducing the chemical to your body. It might be dry heaves, but they'll still be there.

Be careful with your butt!

You may not get the burning in your stomach, but the nausea, vomiting and dry mouth would still happen. These side effects are from the toxins in alcohol being eliminated from your body, which happens no matter how you introduce it. So, while it may save some burning, the rest of the side effects plus an increased absorption rate would still happen.

You'd also get the burning in your rectum. Ow.

Like I said, I did not plan on trying it, but I had always been curious. What you said makes a lot of sense. I wonder if there are any questions the community can't answer?

People also take coke up the butt to get quicker, more intense effects. Definitely not a good idea, but it is proven that rectal tissue absorbs much quicker, therefore getting you more drunk, or high, much quicker. People can die doing this, so I definitely wouldn't try it.. glad to see you've changed your mind as well!

I've heard of the coffee enema too, but never know how much cream and sugar to put in it.

I have heard of heroin addicts shooting it up the butt to avoid leaving tracks. Doesn't sound super pleasant.

I have heard that the alcohol flu is actually increased when doing anal shots...Having a parent who is an alcoholic in remission teaches you so much about what you shouldn't do with alcohol. Or other drugs. I have seen rectal doses of an anti-emetic (anti vomiting drugs) given to animals too sick to keep fluids down and the calibrations are so delicate because of the absorption rate. Do they do this with humans as well or just go IV?

Problem is if you damage the intestine it doesn't heal fast either and if you damage it enough...well you get the drift. My Mother had to have almost a full 10% of her bowel ressected (I think that's the word) after frequent bouts of diverticulitis (inflammation of the small pouches that develop in the colon) because the area had died and it was quickly poisoning her. I can't imagine what putting caustic substances in an area of the body that is used to filtered and denatured food stuffs do to the bowel but I ain't a-gonna find out!

She probably had that portion of her intestines removed. They can cut out almost half of you intestine and you can still live.
