I personally feel that a great toy for anyone new to BDSM would have to be a good pair of restraints but if being restrained is a no-go then I would have to say a nice well built paddle. What do you think?

But I wouldn't consider those toys as much as implements, the best toy for BDSM that can be used if bound or not is definitely a wand. You can go old school with a cord, which we have and never use anymore, upgrade to a wireless wand and add attachments. You can never go wrong with a good one wand
