Does piercing your privates actually increase sexual satisfaction or is it just plain dangerous?

I used to contemplate getting some, but was completely scared away because of the possibility of damage or loss of sensitivity. Do you think/know that there's that kind of risk involved with piercing sensitive areas? Or do you think/know that it actually made things more pleasurable?

Increased pleasure vs. danger? The third choice is: neither of those. It really depends which piercing you're talking about. The main piercing that carries a risk of sensitivity loss is an actual clitoral piercing. When most people talk about getting their clit pierced, they're actually referring to the clitoral hood. For some people, this can increase sensitivity. For others, not. For yet others, it changes over time. It can become increased, but then normalize as they become accustomed to the new sensation of the jewelry being present.

As long as you go to a safe and well-known piercer and be informed about which piercing you want (there are lots of choices!) there really shouldn't much risk of damage at all.

I think it depends on your anatomy and who does the piercing. If you have a piercer who doesn't know what they're doing and they do it wrong, or they do it when you don't have the proper anatomy for it, then a lot of things can go wrong. Something else to keep in mind is how you heal other piercings. If you've never had a problem with any of them, you may well be ok with this. But if you have difficulty healing new piercings, then I would avoid piercing your genitals.

If done right, they have the potential to be very pleasurable.

Nipples I've heard great things about increasing the sensitivity. A good way to try it out without piercing is to use clamps.
