Sex Fact: Food and your Sex Life

Contributor: Kayla Kayla
What you eat can effect sexual performance. Foods that promote the production of a chemical called Nitric Oxide can help positively effect your sex drive. It's a gas that is released in small amounts that is needed for healthy blood vessels and the ability to get an erection in males.

Nitric Oxide comes from arginine which is an amino acid. Want to improve your Nitric Oxide? Eat more arginine-rich foods like beans, walnuts, oats, almonds, and soy products.

Like anything, keeping up general health and having a good diet can positively affect the sex drive as well.

I try to maintain a healthy diet and exercise but not for improving sex. I do it to be healthy and figure good things such as improved sex will follow.

I am on a perpetual "See food" diet so I do not watch what I eat much. The wife is more careful so we eat better than I use to. Never really thought about improving the sex life for me but it could help with the wife.

These are my thoughts too.

I've never really tried to eat well specifically to improve sex, but I do figure that the better I take care of myself, the better I will feel in general, and that will translate into my sex life, too.

First I agree with the title of the book - Size Does Matter - in spite of women frequently denying it. Save all the protestations - I know from the Forum that 98% of women deny it.

Second - there is obviously nothing you can eat to make your penis larger - so I'm not sure I get the connection.

Third - there are supplements that claim to enhance ejaculatory volume. Apparently it's big in Europe - I've heard it referred to as 'ropes' or 'roping' referring to the number and size of ejaculation. I admit I'm vain enough to have tried them once - with no detectable result - so buyer beware.

I do try to eat healthily and exercise - but I count more on the indirect benefits of health rather than direct - except I try to do keegles once in a while.

I live on walnuts and almonds (well, not quite that literally, but I eat a lot of them), so that's good to know

I care about my diet as it affects my overall health. And my sexual health is dependent on my overall health, so yes I do eat for my sex life.

I've never thought of that, but it's very interesting. I eat tons of almonds (just ate a handful a few minutes ago actually) and I don't think I'll be giving them up anytime soon!

Haha. I'm basically a vegetarian. I eat lots of beans, nuts, and soy products. No wonder my sex drive has been through the roof lately.

I do not watch what I eat for our sex life. I do work out occasionally, take vitamins, but not for our sex life either. I do take care of myself mentally and wax, etc. for our sex life...a lot of sex is mental as well as physical.

Both of us are usually pretty conscious about what we eat, and for this specific reason as well!

We take 5 grams of L-arginine daily to improve blood vessel function. We both noticed a huge improvement in our sex drive/stamina almost immediately after beginning the regimen. My doctor is impressed with my results thus far.

I eat to be healthy but I am almost positive that it also affects my sex, whether it just be that I'm healthier, or that I'm more comfortable with my body or something.

Not really.

I'm careful about how I eat and exercise in general, though. I feel like trying to maintain a body I can be as comfortable as possible in though helps contribute to me feeling sexier and thus feeling better while doing sexual things, though, but that isn't why I eat or exercise healthily.
