Are toys a good gift idea for family?

Contributor: LilyLust LilyLust
My family and I have always been open and honest about sex. My mom and I are mainly friends. And she announced her engagement a few months ago. So I wanted to get her a gift. But I was thinking how about something she wouldn't buy for her self. But is it appropriate gift for a family member? I know sex is still kind of taboo for some, but I'm not sure.

They have been under so much stress, and don't have time or money for nights out. So I figured it would be a good idea to get them something for a night in.

What do you think?

You sound like you have a close relationship with her so as I wouldn't go and buy her a big scary dildo covered in thick veins or something, there are a bunch of neat kits that include games and bodypaints and stuff. That would seem more appropriate to me.

Lots of romantic and sensual stuff you could get but I"d steer clear of anything overtly sexual or kinky unless she's mentioned something in particular in the past. You just never know what's going to insult someone, yanno?

I would suggest something from Kama Sutra, like a Treasure Trove, or a bath set just to test the waters. Maybe even one of the Liberator throes?? Unless you have specifically talked about vibes and such I wouldn't go that far.

Exactly. And even if mom is open minded and appreciative, the new hubby might have issues. Horrible to cause that kind of stress on the honeymoon. Lol

Thanks gals for your in put. I hinted around today about it, and think maybe a game or a massage kit might be best. I'll see how that goes over then think about the honey moon gift, lol.

My little sister (she's about 20 or so) bought all of the couples in the family little sex kits for Christmas. We're quite open about sex in our family too, but that was a bit uncomfortable, and laughable with a bunch of little kids running around. It was a little weird getting something like that from her, but I guess not surprising.

I'd go for a massage kit, I think that would be a great gift.
