Incompatible desires?

As I mentioned in another thread, my husband likes to be blindfolded (me too!) and the Extreme Blackout Blindfold was suggested. When I showed the product page to him this morning, he gave it a thumbs-up, turned to leave, and stopped in his tracks with a realization.

The blindfold is a recent addition to our play, but my husband's other long-standing kink is voyeurism. Neither is particularly unconventional, but there seems to be a major conflict. How can he like looking and not be able to look?

Does anyone else find this odd? Thoughts?

Does he want you blindfolded while he watches? Or to use them at different times? I agree, those don't sound like they'd work well together... If he wants you blindfolded while he watches, though, I can see where that could be hot. Or if he's wearing the blindfold, he doesn't know whether someone is watching or not, so there's room for fantasizing there.

Sex is not exactly a rational act. It is generally (but not always) based on emotions, and emotions are frequently far from rational. So why expect anything related to sex to be rational in the "critical thought" sense? Just enjoy all the different aspects of your sexuality whether they "make sense" or not.

But it is a rather funny set of contradictory desires.

No different than being both a dom and a sub, often referred to as a switch. Our fantasies are not always logical.

Both can be exciting and have their perks, so I don't see why it's a problem.
