My dog gets upset when my husband and I have sex!

Okay, this is a pretty funny problem, but it really IS a problem!

Whenever my husband and I get intimate, our beloved dog starts to whine and gets very obviously stressed out. As a result, she will start chewing up blankets or anything else that is in sight. We tried closing the door so that she was out of the room, but the wailing and whimpering was too much to bear. When she is in the room, she well often try to interfere but when brushed aside she just sulks in the corner nervously chewing on something. I don't want to have to lock her up in her crate every time we want to get friendly (not to mention being out of line of sight of us seems to make matters much worse, and with her crate being in the bedroom, she would get very upset if we were having fun elsewhere in the house).

I don't know if perhaps she thinks he is hurting me (I am rather vocal at times!), maybe it is a jealousy issue, or possibly an "alpha" thing... she is a rescued dog from a shelter and had a rather serious "alpha dog" problem when we first got her. Once she learned her place in our family, her rowdy behavior was a thing of the past.

We were thinking about maybe using the crate and putting a rawhide bone in there for her to chew on, a treat of sorts to associate us having sex with getting treats but also to give her something "safe" to chew on when she gets nervous (instead of ruining my favorite blanket... ugh!!!)

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Also, feel free to share your funny pet stories involving your sexual escapades... I'm sure there are some good ones out there!

The only story that I have to share is that one of our cats will literally come in the room and start meowing and rubbing against us like it's time for us to cuddle or play with her. Our movements and noise makes her leave though so it's not a problem.

I'm not sure what to say... I hope others have some advice for you!

I know how you feel. We do close the door when we're having sex and my dog leaves us a little present right outside the door almost every time. I have no suggestions that might help though.

I don't have a dog, and never have, but.. here's my advice. Maybe one or both of you could try giving the dog some attention before you go do your thing. Either petting or wearing her out by playing.

And maybe sometimes at night or whenever, before/after you play with her, make her go sit/lay down somewhere else, and cuddle, or sit close to your partner. If it's a jealousy thing, maybe giving her and your partner "equal" amounts of attention will calm her down.

You could also maybe try leaving the TV on or putting on some music, so that she's not so focused on your noises.

*shrug* worth a shot, maybe..

Before my dog passed, she used to get rather passive-aggressive about my boyfriend and I having sex. She would often lie there and glare at us, which was rather creepy. She would also start to growl or bark if we got rough, even if it was me getting rough with him! We never found a way to calm her down, though, except by putting her outside in the run when we were going to get friendly.

The crazy thing was, she never got upset when we cuddled, had tickle and pillow fights, or did any number of crazy things. It was just sex that got her annoyed. Maybe she was jealous, because as a good little fixed dog, she wasn't getting any, lol.

Yeah I mean when we cuddle or kiss she never seems to mind (sometimes she wants to cuddle too though haha) but she never gets stressed out or upset by it.

This past week I stayed at my boyfriend's house with my dog for the first time. Anytime we made love, she would constantly try to get up on the bed with us and bug us. She also would try to get between me and him, almost like she was claiming me or trying to protect me. For the most part, we could push her off, but then she'd try to lay on my head.

We ended up crating her and giving her a kong toy filled with peanut butter or a rawhide. She generally will whine like crazy when she can't be with me, but if we put her in the crate with some toys, a treat, and some comfy towels she didn't mind as much. Covering the crate also helps. We also made a point of letting her out and playing with her to give her lots of attention afterward.
