I like the polls and comparisons, because they're quick and easy. When you're reading them, you can get a quick understanding of the conversation and topic without having to read every response.
After coming back to visit this thread, I find Polls and Discussions of benefit to EVERYONE. It is a forum for those contributors who do not write Reviews, but offer input in other ways just as valuable! Thanks to everyone who voted and left comments!

I like the polls because you don't have to read every post to get the majority of the peoples opinions. Then its still like a discussion since you can post below.

I like polls, esp. when they are anonymous. Of course, I like discussion afterwards, too.

Discussions, that are NOT made by people who are just point farming, and are actually interested in what you have to say and are going to follow the damn thread.

Generally I find the most useful information in people's answers. It really doesn't matter what type discussion/poll the topic is under. I like it when people take the time to write responses, those can be very helpful.

I think polls allow you to get a good snapshot of people's opinions, and the comments give you a more in-depth view. Polls are definitely the best way to get the most information.

I agree with you about the point farming thing. I find that similar questions are asked over and over without first checking the Search Box. Whether it is Polls or Discussions, there are repeat questions by new contributors.

It is a GREAT tool to 'first' search the Forum and find threads that you might be interested in. For example, when you choose Forums and then type a question into the Search Box, it will pull up previous Polls or Discussions which have already been started. In this way, someone wouldn't have to start and ask a similar question; which have already been made. I do my best to avoid repeating an existing or similar question.

I do my best to revisit my threads to respond to any questions.

Discussions are awesome... as long as people are actually talking together- not just dropping their statement and leaving. I mean- that works in most cases- but there are some that I think there would be a lot of value in a back and forth. Polls are kind of eh to me.
