If you shave down there, SPECIFICALLY what razor and shave cream do you use???

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
We both shave smooth. Have for years. Thus far, the best we have found is the Gilette Fusion Power Razor (a manual razor with a battery BUZZ in the handle) along with the Gilette brand SENSITIVE SKIN shave GEL. We have actually found that the shave gel is more important then the shaver type.

However, sometimes we still get irritation or nicks. Less now then ever, but we are always looking for "better", so anyone have any suggestions on their "favorite" shave method for "down below"???

THANKS

I use Schick Quattro (for men) razors and good ol' fashioned hair conditioner. I hate shaving creams/gels. Too much fragrance, too many chemicals near my naughty bits and I can't see what the hell I'm doing.

My wife and I use the Gillete Venus Embrace and I prefer to use bar soap, and she uses shower gel. Both methods leave us irritation free.

I used the Schick Hydro 5. Best razor I've found thus far. I like to use any sensitive skin formula shave gel, but my favorite is using Coochy that I bought from Pure Romance a long time ago.

I use Gillette Fusion Pro-Glide and it works really well. I used Venus for years because I thought it was the best one out there, but the Pro-Glide is way better and gives me much less irritation. I usually shave using conditioner.

I use Schick Intuition, the bulky one with the solid lathering thingy attached to the head. It can be a little bit cumbersome shaving the nook and crannies with it, but I just prop my foot up on the edge of the tub and get in there. I find this to work a LOT better than anything else I've tried. At work we sell something called Coochie Cream, a shaving cream that can be used to shave any part of your body (we sell quite a bit to guys who shave their heads), but it's pretty much the consistency of hair conditioner.

I really like the Schick brand, but when I've used it in the past, the soapy bar around the blade irritated my skin somehow. I'm currently using the Schick Quattro, and it's pretty good. I'm kind of experimenting with different shaving creams/gels at the moment, and I think shaving cream works better for me, but I'm not sure yet. I recently tried Coochie Cream, and in my opinion, it's nothing special. It seemed to be almost the same thing as Bikini Zone shave gel. I tried some Aveeno sensitive skin shave cream, and I liked it better than the gels. I've still been getting some irritated red bumps, no matter the cream/gel though.

I'm going to have to try some of these out. Any time I shave, it's smooth for a day or two and then I end up with a ton of itchy red shaving bumpies and some ingrown hairs that I need to dig out.

I use the Gillette Venus ProSkin MoistureRich razor. The shave gel bars are already attached to the blade and it works really well until shave gel bars start to wear down. When the bars start to wear down I add Skintimate shave gel and it works great.

- Noxzema Bikini Razors (they're tiny and have a single guarded razor)
- Hair conditioner (I've had good luck with Pantene Volume, Garnier Fructis, and Dove conditioners)

i use a venus razor w/ 5 blades & whatever body wash i have. i have found that using skintimate shave gel for sensative or dry skin works well b/c of the extra moisturizers.

I use hair conditioner - many 'intimate' shave creams are just repackaged hair conditioner. Ever since I started using conditioner I've never had any irritation. My wife just got a Brazilian laser job - she's really happy with the results. Last of 6 treatments tomorrow.

We use the norelco bodygroom. I don't usually shave everything completely, but it's great for doing all of my shaft and balls and trimming the rest.

I like the Schick Quattro, don't really use any shaving cream though. I guess I have tough skin.

Tip for avoiding ingrown hairs: especially on the front (pubic mound area), shave WITH the grain, not against it. It won't get as "close" of a shave, but shaving against it can push the hairs back into the follicle and make them ingrown. I find that on the actual lips I can go whatever direction pretty much, and I'm assuming that it's because (at least for me) the hair is softer, probably because it's closer to moisture.
