Warming/Arousing = Burning/Stinging? Does this happen to you?

Contributor: Fanny Fanny
Lubrications that boast "warming" and "arousing" effects are all over the place. I've tried a couple of these, most recently the KY Yours + Mine lubrication, and almost always these types of products always result in BURNING!!!! At first, I feel a nice tingly warm sensation, and the next thing I know my vagina feels like its on fire. I try keeping this type of lubrication on the outside only, but it always seems to get in and again, burns. I can't imagine that this happens to everyone, since a lube that burns vaginas could never gain this much general popularity. Does this happen to anyone else or am I just crazy?

It happens to me too! I have tried the KY hers and mine with the hubby too, and he used the warming kind of course, for penetration and we had to stop in the middle of sex, so I could go wash it off because it was burning so bad! I don't know why it's so popular! I have similar reactions with other warming lubes too, but especially the KY hers and mine!

I had it happen as well with the Wet warming. I think it depends on your body, and sadly some things just don't work for some people.

I want to see what the cooling is like though, never tried it....

I've never felt the burning but the one warming lube I've tried made me feel tingly in a "numb" sort of way. I didn't like it at all and I'm still curious how enough people receive pleasure from that to warrant TV commercials.

It's been awhile though so I might try it again just to see if I can feel any differently about it.

I love System Jo's Agape. I find that this does not cause burning/stinging for me.

But, in general, when I start to get dry from lack of natural juices, lubes (regardless of any special property they might or might not have) sting and burn like hell!

Anything that says "warming" or "tingling" or "cool" etc burns like hell. They work by producing counter irritants, so with sensitive people, it's going to be uncomfortable.

I have at least 3 or 4 different "arousal jels" and they all burn. *sigh*

You're not alone. I cannot use those types of lubes at all. They always burn and then numb me. So I gave up.

I have read so many reviews about reactions to warming/cooling like this that I am not really interested to spend my own money to find out. I think at one point, when I was a little younger, I tried a warming lube that did warm slightly, but didn't work well as a lube because it was too tacky. This earned it the position of Always in the Back of the Drawer--the trade off just wasn't worth it. I wasn't particularly tied to the idea in the first place, and have pretty much remained there.

It's so interesting to me to hear that this happens to a lot of people. How can these lubes be SO popular? I read a bunch of reviews for KY Yours + Mine on amazon and people are RAVING about it! So confusing. Perhaps I do just have sensitive skin down there/in there.

I don't have that response with warming gels, but with cooling gels. Cooling=on fire.

It's totally counterproductive and makes me crazy. Not just you!
