I feel more comfortable as a submissive, but I would switch every once in a while just to spice things up.

My Man and I don't switch. It isn't in our make up, but it works for other people.
I'm sub, but not what one would call a "slave." There are subtle or not so subtle difference. I have a huge big mouth and am really opinionated and don't think I'd do well in a M/s relationship, but seem to do OK (although.....) in a D/s relationship.

What I like most, is to start out being the dom, and be the top for a little while - but then he takes over. I love it!

Although I do not switch, ever. I do Top from the Bottom a lot. The other day, we were going at it, and all of a sudden I realized I was almost giving him orders. I mean, not "orders" but strong suggestions. I apologized and he laughed and did what I asked for anyway. We have the kind of relationship where I can ask for things, I try not to get bossy, though.
Sometimes he picks the activities and the toys, other times he leaves it completely up to me, "What do you want?" I always feel on the spot. "What do I want?" I kind of (really) like it when he makes most of the decisions. Unless he picks the hard Marble G Spotter and I'm not in the mood for Full Frontal Cervix Attack. He hasn't quite mastered the art of using really hard toys. ("Honey, rocking is good, thrusting is for silicone." That's probably one of the reasons I haven't gotten an NJoy toy
(Steel dildo) yet. I really was thinking about it for my Holiday Coupon purchase, but in the end, I didn't get one.
Maybe next time.

I go back and forth between both, because they're both not roles I ever get to play in real life. We spend so much time being democratic about everything all the time, I'm happy as long as somebody's in the driver's seat.

With a male only submissive, unless being in a different mood, with a different person, with a female dominant, it depends too though but I far more prefer submissive females...
Ideal for me is to have a Master (I do yaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy yyyy!!!), as long as He is with me nothing else matters...
And in case if W/we ended up with being with others occasionally then the statement above goes...
And in long term with a female if it ever happened, Master on the very top, me under Him, female under two of U/us...
If any males in long term I seriously doubt then it would be hardest to figure out what the fuck, but would be solved... (Thinking of a "have to situation" where W/we wouldn't have another choice - ya know, it's better to be prepared for the worst and hope the best... ^^)
