I didn't see a post for this yet. Anywho, today is National Coming Out Day.
I'd like to not only invite all of you to come out as either part of the LGBT community or a supporter as well as to share your opinion of this day and why you think it is important or why you think it is a silly idea.
I am a lesbian and I honestly have not officially come out to anyone. I just blindsided everyone when I got with my current girlfriend at the beginning of the year.

I didn't know this, but I like this idea. It's a hard thing to do and maybe a national day would give someone the courage to do it.
Personally, I'm bisexual. Everyone but my mom knows this. The only reason my mom doesn't is because she is very open with me sexually and would ask a lot of questions about what it's like to be with a girl and I just don't think I want to have that discussion. It would be way creepy. She'd want to know what it tastes like and if girls kiss better and who knows what else. I just can't even deal. I know that's probably the dumbest reason in the history of reasons, but I really just don't want to have that conversation. My husband once made one comment about me kissing a girl and she played 20 question about that, so I can only imagine if she found out I've had girlfriends and sex. *shudder*
I know that's nothing like those who have parents who would disown them for being gay. I feel so, so sorry for those who have to struggle with that burden. I can't even imagine. I hope for a day that everyone is much more open about sexuality and all different sexualities are as accepted as heterosexuality. Maybe days like this national one will be a step towards that.
