I think it's ridiculous that people feel the need to utter things such as that. Why can't we all be more accepting of each other and just be happy that they're happy together regardless of gender, orientation, etc.?

I think that it is real and I totally have it. I do not think it is at all related to being a lesbian. I think most woman have it. We all wonder what it would be like to have one. Just like men wonder what it would be like to have a vagina.

Freud conjured up penis envy as a way to explain the female-child side of his psycho-sexual stage theory.
According to Freud, little boys decide to follow the footsteps of their father because they're attracted to their mother. However, they can't overthrow Dad, so they just decide to be like him. If Dad can get a woman like Mom, then Son can if he acts like Dad.
Freud's theory for girls was a little bit different. He thought that little girls wanted to have sex with their fathers because they would obtain penises this way, and penises were considered signs of power. They couldn't get to Dad because Mom was in the way, so they acted like Mom to get to a man like Dad.
The theory is ridiculous, in my opinion, and most psychologists have written it off. Someone even came up with the theory of "womb envy" that men must have because they can't conceive children as a point of showing how silly it was.

"Penis Envy" I believe is how people who know very little about the queer community try to explain lesbians/transmen who like women. They can't understand how someone could like someone else of the same sex, so they try to rationalize it by saying that they just want to be men.
