Partner of an FTM wondering about testosterone

Contributor: vegweg vegweg
Hey there. Keegan and I started dating in September of 2010 so it's been a year and a half now. We've been officially living together since this past August (though I pretty much moved in with him last school year) and have an 8 month old kitten. I've known he was ftm since we first got together and I'm completely okay with it and 100% supportive. I'm bisexual and he's the perfect mix of masculine and feminine for me. We have an appointment with an endocrinologist at the end of May and I'm really just wanting to know what I should be expecting in the following months. He's my first trans partner so this is something I've never been through before. So, I'd appreciate any stories, advice, or resources you could give me. We're both very happy in our relationship and I want to be realistically prepared so my expectations don't end up being an issue.
Also, feel free to send me a personal message if there's something you don't want to include here

When someone begins testosterone, they tend to become more aggressive and their sex drive tends to increase. They also tend to experience "wet dreams", if they did not previously. The voice deepens and hair starts to grow on the face and elsewhere.

Although im not on testosterone yet, i've looked into it a lot, and the changes you'd expect to see quickly are things like a higher sex drive, a huge appetite, and an increase in hair. The longer changes are things like voice and muscle etc, but the main thing that you'll have to be aware of are the mood changes. A lot of people have reported about having a shorter temper, but others say their mood hasnt changed at all, so i suppose it differs.

Hormone levels can have a variety of effects. Testosterone can increase aggression or competitiveness, but it is also said to lower depression and anxiety, so whatever trigger's a certain person's temper will be the indicator.

If someone lashes out when they are stressed, they should be less stressed since anxiety is lowered. However if they are just an aggressive person who starts fights, that could get worse.

There are some youtube channels which may help. Look at TMatesFTM, they have some good resources.
Anytime you mes with hormones, people do change some. There is nothing that is for certien, but it is good to read up on possible effects.
