Where are all the people on Toy Swap Network?!

Contributor: Intertwining Intertwining
Hi everyone,

I recently joined the Toy Swap Network, where you swap, sell or trade (sterilizable) toys that you're not too crazy about. I was so excited, thinking that I would be able to rid myself of my Elise, Tex and Form 3 in exchange for something I might like!

Unfortunately, it's pretty much as silent as a crypt down there, except for very occasional updates every couple of days- I haven't gotten a single peep out of anybody! Where is everyone!?

I'm there. Unless I know I am looking for something or looking to unload something, I don't check for updates. I usually check about once a month or so. Have you been telling about your updates to your profile on twitter? Because that's where I see when people update and I'll go check out their profile then.

I'm surprised as well. When I joined I expected to trade a lot of stuff, but here's what I found:

People don't put their favorite toys up for trade - so the fact that they are on offer means they didn't work all that well.

It's actually rather difficult & time consuming to sort through everyone's list to find something interesting - then have something that person is interested in.

If the site were reorganized more like a store where you could shop available toys, then find out who owns them to arrange for a trade, the site would be much more useful.

As it is now - it's just not very user-friendly.

It does have a search feature. I've actually made several trades. People don't just offer low quality or unpopular toys. Often the toys are good, but just don't work for you. My Eroscillator was snapped up immediately.

One thing to remember is that just because something does not work well for one person does not mean it won't work well for someone else, which is the whole point of the swap! I have some toys that don't work out well for me, but others absolutely love the same toy.

"People don't put their favorite toys up for trade - so the fact that they are on offer means they didn't work all that well."

It's true, I don't want to trade my favorite toys But a lot of people list toys that they simply don't use, or that didn't match their bodies well. I've traded things I hadn't used or didn't think I would use again, and the toys certainly worked fine and were of fine quality.

I've found the best way to keep up with updates on the site is to use the front page. Anytime anyone updates their list, there's a little note that appears in the feed on the homepage. I go check people's lists from there. I agree that it's not the most efficient site, but it works for me.

I think reorganizing the website in that manner would be a huge coding thing which, as it doesn't really "pay" for the admin, would be more work than the admin would be getting paid for. It'd require a lot of overhead maintanance.

As for there not being popular toys; it depends. I know I traded a Form 3 and Layaspot on there. Neither works for me (at all), but I know a lot of people love both toys. I never really request other's toys though. That's a hang-up I never got over. Instead, I'm always prowling for books and DVDs since I usually buy those used anyways.

I understand the concepts - in fact I have made a trade on the site and all went well.

I'm not dissing the site - but if everything was working smoothly, this thread would never have been started.

My comments reflect my personal experience and are not meant to discourage others.

If as Tuesday says there is a search feature - perhaps I need to investigate. But what I'm referring to is a browse capability - more than search.

I know you aren't dissing the site, but I don't know if this thread was created due to nothing working smoothly. ToySwap has just been a lot quieter these past couple months. It used to be a ton more active earlier in the year, but it's slowed down a bit.

I know I have made quite a few trades on there. Some of which are my personal favorite toys! I have toys that I got duplicates of, so it isn't necessarily toys that I don't like.

But you do have to be good about seeing immediately when people update because big ticket toy items usually get snapped up quickly.

Plus, have you SEEN Carrie Ann's list? I pretty much want everything on it. And there is some gooooooood stuff on there...

Might have to try it. Does Carrie Ann have any good large (2"+ diameter) dildos?

Do you guys really trust a site like that?

I do, yes, since the site only allows you to trade sex toys that can be sterilized. (Glass, Stainless Steel, etc.) So you can sterilize the toy once you get it.

As such, I still only trade for DVDs and books though. Just a personal hang-up.

Hi all,

Just to clarify, I think TSN works perfectly- the reason I started this thread was because I was wondering why it suddenly became so quiet down there. I expected my Form 3 to be snapped up!

HollisJ- I don't see why not! If you're referring to the fact that you might never receive your traded items, it's just a matter of making sure that person has some good comments showing that she's traded before. Like for me, I'm relatively new to TSN and have never carried out swaps, so I wouldn't mind sending my toys first (provided that the person can be trusted).
