Which is more special to your relationship, a significant date (anniversary of marriage, dating, first meeting, whichever!) or Valentine's Day? An anniversary is specific to your relationship and unique. But Valentine's is kind of traditional! Which one and why?

Valentine's Day 2010 was when I first started talking with my husband, so it has a special meaning to me as well!
01/20/2013
Either one is special.
01/20/2013
Anniversaries are a little more meaningful to me.
01/20/2013
I like anniversaries more than a made up holiday.
01/20/2013
Anniversary
01/20/2013
Both are special days, but an anniversary has more meaning.
01/20/2013
Anniversary. I'm mean, that's a no-brainer. Valentine's Day is such a bullshit holiday.
01/20/2013
The anniversary. It marks the day that we first became a couple. While I don't mind Valentine's day either (any excuse to spend time with my partner is fine by me) I think if I had to choose our anniversary would probably win.
01/20/2013
We went all out for both. He took me to the finest places and bought me the finest gifts. I'm always spoiled on those occasions.

Both, but anniversaries are a little more special to me.

I'm not a huge Valentine's Day fan per se, but it's 6 months apart from our anniversary so it's nice just to do something special once every 6 months.
01/21/2013
our marriage anniversary is very special to us. Valentines is just a day to give gifts, just another holiday.
01/21/2013
Our anniversary is more personal and meaningful. Valentine's Day is so commercialized, where our anniversary is just purely special.
01/21/2013
Anniversary. It is funny one of my good friends I met on Valentines day. So that day also has big meaning to me.
01/21/2013
Both are very important to us.

The anniversary of when we went on our first date is the most important to us. Our wedding anniversary seems to always have something go wrong and Valentine's Day is so-so for us.
01/21/2013
Neither, they're both the same as the remainder 363 days.... Uneventful

my anniversary is very special to me with my Husband/Master. I became His TPE on that day too so it's a double anniversary for us.

While we have been happily married for over 30 years, the truth is, we also find Valentines Day a very special day for us. We always make it an excuse to be extra sickly sweet and romantic towards each other. It's great.

If you want either of them...or any of the other days, to be "eventful", you have to choose to make them so!!! We choose to make special days "burst forth" from the calendar. Seems to us, life is too short not too!

Commercialized, yes. However, it is commercial selling of flowers, candy (chocolates), love cards, lingerie.....think about it. How much better could it be???

I just cannot feel that way. Valentines Day, while an "invented" commercial holiday (as opposed to the religious holiday it was in days of old), is still about Love, Romance, Mushy cards, Chocolates, Flowers, Lingerie, Sex Toys, having sex, and oh...did I mention Chocolate. Also....in case I forgot...Chocolate. So....all my favorite things, all celebrated on one day. Who cares if it's "invented". It is ALL good.
