I was just wondering if you guys do anything special for your anniversaries?
We usually go out for dinner and spend the evening together but this year will be the big 25 years. We are planning a trip to Vegas. I'm really excited. I've had several people tell us we shouldn't spend that kind of money with the economy the way it is..but we are lucky to still have each other after hubby's heart problems. We have all our bills paid and have saved up for this special trip so we don't feel guilty about going.
Just wondering what everyone else has done to celebrate and anyone got any good ideas for our trip.

If you can afford it than do it. Just because the economy is in a slump doesn't mean you guys should deny yourself any fun or luxury- it's optimal for our health and our sanity to treat ourselves every once in a while and if you have the money now than by all means do it.
When we lived in our last state we had people to babysit our son, this state we don't. BUT when we did have babysitters he'd always reserve a room at hotels. Our first year he chose a big Victoria bed and breakfast (talk about romantic!), the owner left champagne and strawberries on a silver platter under the big canopy bed. There'd be a fireplace. Oh, and for breakfast she made everything from scratch. It was really fantastic and surprisingly affordable...
For the VERY last anniversary in our old state he upped the ante. He got us a room at this phenomenal historic hotel downtown. Our room was beautiful- it had a jacuzzi, an enclosed shower- the bathroom was awe inspiring. The bedroom had a California King down mattress, Victorian styled furniture, and a view of their gorgeous garden. It was a packaged deal- next door they had a salon so we did a couple's massage and we walked around downtown. We had dinner at the hotel- literally the best meal of my life. Roasted duck with cherry and arugla salad, my husband had lamb, oh and the sea scallops were to die for. We had something on the menu for desert but it wasn't as memorable. The concierge came to our room around 10 and brought champagne and cheeses, then we went for a walk down to the comedy club. The total bill for everything literally made my jaw drop but it was so worth it as I still gush about it years later.
These last few years in this shitty state we've just gone out to dinner with our son in tow. I think my husband took me shopping last year, not really my ideal day but as long as I could spend it with him I didn't care. Next month is our anniversary so I'm curious what he can pull out of his bag of tricks.
If you buy anything I seriously recommend -
