Columbus Day is just a floating holiday where I work, and I didn't opt to take this one. A lot of the schools around here are off though and so are some of the larger companies in the area. Are you off from work? School?
Are you working today?

And if you're off, please feel free to make those of us stuck working feel nice and jealous by telling us what you're up to.

I worked last night, that was our holiday. But yay for double time and a half! I usually have Monday nights off.
I'm supposed to be at school too, but my step dad/babysitter didn't realize that my school only gives off for Jewish holidays. (I swear I told him that I have school today.)
I'm not really objecting to my day off though!

I'm a stay at home mom..So I'm at home, but cleaning and doing laundry and planning our halloween party while chasing around my one year old. Still better than working somewhere else though.

I think my son and I are heading out to lunch, a bit of shopping, and then I have to write the paper I was supposed to write yesterday. I also figured out next semester's class schedule a little bit.

I'm off. But I have a house to clean and am expecting my period to start very soon. I have packages on the way but nothing comes in today, and with the cramps I can't enjoy any happy fun time.
If I can get out of my depressive rut, I might be able to get other things done. But right now I'm pretty much on auto pilot.

I think that Columbus Day is only really celebrated by those who get the day off. It's also October's only "day off"; Nov. has Thanksgiving/Black Friday and Dec. has the obvious ones.
10/11/2010
It is National Coming Out Day though!
10/11/2010
I'm off! Whoohoo for federal holidays! I'm working on a review now but hope to enjoy the beautiful weather later.

Today's my brother's birthday (he turned 30), so I'm baking his cake (hell on my sugar-abstinence) and making dinner for tonight (shrimp alfredo). I already got his geek presents, now just need to get the parents to sign his card.

Damn you, school! Also, damn you papers!

well... nothings closed today, but its my day off.

It is Thanksgiving here so everything is closed. I love a long weekend.
Last night I made my first turkey EVER. It was a success! It was juicy and yummy and I picked at it all night.
(what? I have never had to make one before. I was always invited somewhere or got myself invited somewhere LOL. I bit the bullet this year though.)

I have IT homework to do and yard work later on.

stay at home mom, I never get a break. My oldest is off today so actually my work load is increased. The little darlings are at least giving me a break right now, but have to get them all up to take the youngest to the Dr. soon. He's having tummy issues
10/11/2010
I already worked a little over 8 hours today. Up before the roosters crowed or whatever that saying is.
10/11/2010
I already worked 7:30-2 today, and then off to my second job, got in around 5, hopefully getting out around 10, and doing it all again tomorrow, lol

Off work and off school, great fun to be had! I forgot what today was and showed up to class, I was the only one who forgot. Who feels stupid now?
That's right.
Me.

The post office closes here, but all schools are open.

I spent my day going crazy waiting for my Tommy Gunn and Lovemoisele to get here. I thought they got lost in the mail. Until I went to the post office and it was 3 and they were closed... then got to my moms and checked the calendr4e to find out it was Columbus day. Oh the anticipation! So now I am going to go to bed so tomorrow gets here quicker and I can play with my Tommy!

I'm grad student but none of my classes are on Monday so Columbus day matters not to me, since it wouldn't effect me either way.

I did try to work on cam tonight and it didn't go very well, will try again in a while.

I'm a SAHM, but I've worked in places that do and do not close their business for Columbus Day.

Didn't even know it was a holiday today, actually. I had school and I'm working right now. Fuuuuuuun.

I work most every holiday, in my field of work they tell you from day 1 "you don't get holidays off, that's our busiest day." So I knew it from day one of culinary school. It sucks, it really really does. I worked Christmas, Easter and Valentines day, all days I'd like to stay home and be with the boy, but instead I was working to make sure others enjoy the holiday more. Last year while working in a casino I spent 13 hours working on Valentines day, at the end of the day there wasn't a single strawberry left in the casino, we ran out of chocolate lava cakes and lots of other things. When we finished at 1am the next day I felt like my plans where so screwed there was no chance I was going to get any.
