If friends or family greet you with a store bought, custom decorated cake, does that mean a lot to you, or does it make you think they didn't take the time to make something? Just wondering. I love store bought cake, so no insult meant for those who buy, rather then bake. Just wondering how others feel about this?
As an adult, do you still find it "great" to get a "Store Bought" cake?

I don't mind a store bought cake at all. Growing up my mom never made my birthday cakes anyway, so it's not offensive if someone buys one. I think it's the thought that counts and I realize that a lot of people these days either don't like/know how to bake, or simply don't have the time. The fact that they wanted to get me a cake at all means something.
My partners mom does bake a cake of my choice every year for my birthday, though.

For family birthdays, we tend to get delicious cakes and pies from a local bakery.
Sometimes though I'll make something, if it's been requested.
A few years ago I had a friend staying with us for a few months. It was her birthday and she asked if I could make her something with blueberries, so I made her a tea-cake. My dad loved it so much that he asked me to make one for his birthday the next week. And the for one reason or another, I ended up making another one a few days later...
3 blueberry tea-cakes in as many weeks!

Yep, since it means they at least put in some planning to order and get it. I prefer home made, especially if I make it myself (so I can more cake batter)

If it is store bought, I actually prefer the "cookie cakes". If it is homemade I like most kinds of cake, but i LOVE pie.

I really like cake in general. I'm happy with either store bought or homemade, it's all good!

I'd rather have a small homemade card than a big store-bought cake! I'd like any gift, though

I make my fiances cake, and for my daughters first birthday I did the cake and cupcakes...but as she gets older and wants fancier themes, we'll buy them!

I would love it if someone bought me a cake!

I love store bought cake! It's just the frosting >_O That can get a bit sweet. Though I will bake a cake when I want to.

I hate it! Unless it is from a specialty store I don't like it. Taste is necessary.

from the really good bakeries, yes!! i like homemade and bakery cakes for different reasons but love them all

It depends on how much time I have. I "generally" find "store bought" cakes to be overly fatty.

The only kind of cake I can really enjoy is ice cream cake but since changing our diets we very rarely eat that stuff anymore. So if I still could eat it, nah, I wouldn't be upset about someone buying me a cake from the store.

Any cake is good cake! I'd feel kinda bad someone baked a whole cake for me honestly.

I'm happy with either a store bought or handmade. Actually I usually skip the cake and just have ice cream.
