My kiddos make me a new tree topper each year. I just cut a star shape out of foam or poster board and they decorate it as they wish. I hot glue twine to the back of it so I can just loop it over the top part of the tree.

I have a puppet that has been handed down from my parents when they first got married. Its a family tradition, that once I moved out into my house, they gave to me. Been sitting on the top of a tree for over 35 years, kind of looks like a Muppet.
