To costume or not to costume, that is the question (Halloween!)

Contributor: Darling Jen Darling Jen
Now I know our Community Events Committee has some ideas in the works and that some of yall out there have kids that will obviously be participating, but the question is: will you? Who's dressing up? Who will be partying? Who will be trick or treating? And which won't even use kids as an excuse to get free candy?

After much thought, I have decided to definitely dress up this year. I don't want my last celebrated Halloween to be with my ex and for me to forever mope about it. Not sure what I'll be doing though. And I can't give away my costume idea or someone might steal it. Though now I'm thinking I should find people to get together to have a group costumed cast! (Anyone else dressing up as a character from a TV show...? )

Just saw that there was a post about Halloween about a month ago... But I figure it's closer now and people might have more of an idea of what they're going for it. Oops.

Plus! Who is willing to take a picture of you in your costume and post it on EF (headless or not for anonymity)?

Hmm, I'm thinking about that. I'd like to be a kind of slutty cop. Just for fun. One of our kids thinks we (My Man and I) should be "House and Cuddy" from the TV show. I don't know how fun it would be, My Man would wear his regular clothes, and a cane, and I'd wear...a business suit with a low cut blouse? I don't think we'll do that.

Still thinking about it.

And I have a Little Child for whom I have to help make a decision about costumes, too. Oh, decisions.

I'm dressing up with a costume from here actually. The darque maid latex costume. It is super fun. I am planning on going to a kinky Halloween party, I'm really looking forward to it. Let's hope that work gives me the time off.

My costume execution has changed - I was planning on a goth Alice, but had to go with a more 'normal' Alice (although with a bit of attitude with motorcycle boots). Although I doubt Ms. Liddel would wear a short skirt.

Also thinking of just going to 'Rocky Horror' and then see my friend's band play at a street party - she doesn't have time for a house party that weekend.

I'm game for a costume picture thread for those of us not participating in the Halloween Costume Contest for EF but want to show off anyway. It's pretty simple to edit in a 'censor bar' over eyes or whole face for identity safety.

ya I really wanted to do a vampire..and do it good real good. nice makeup and I had clothes picked out..the problem is I got the clothes and foundation...there was a certain makeup pallete I needed for the very specific look (following you tube tutorial looks) then I need blush and powder then I need contact lenses, then I needed a more expensive fang rather than the $2 ones so it looked alot more real, then I wanted this glass necklace you buy and the fake blood to put in it...I might just forget about it rather than spend the money. If I can't do it they way I want, then I won't. I'm very specific and picky in what I buy..the colored contacts I wanted are $160 but then I was like ok I'll settle for a $30 pair of something else...still I don't wish to go spend $100 on the rest I already spent about that

That's a great idea for sharing costumes, even if not participating in the contest. And Rocky Horror cracks me up!!!

@P'Gell - Yeah you need something more fun than that. It's a once a year thing, ya know? And good luck with the kiddies!

@JonsBabydoll - Oh a kinky party! That's pretty cool!

@kinky girlfriend - It sounds like you have an absolutely AMAZING vampire costume in the works!

I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to dress up as, but I definitely want to dress up this year. Last year was spent cleaning out a warehouse, lol

We don't even know what the kids are going as this year. We are so last minute people when it comes to Halloween. Maybe we'll take the kiddos shopping this weekend...who knows. Halloween's just not my husband and my thing.

Haha, I'm too old and trying to watch my weight. XD I much rather like passing out the candy. What makes me mad, though, is seeing all these teenagers WITHOUT costumes going around for candy. I have to chase them off and say "You're too old and plus you're not wearing a costume. I'm sorry but NO, these are for the little ones."

Sometimes it looks like they want to start crap, but I keep the hose near by....

I think the best part is spending time with friends and playing scary video games and watching scary movies/shows.

Wow you got some uppity teenagers in your area. Hose 'em! Mwhahaha!

I agree with spending time with loved ones doing spooky things. I personally love hay rides and corn mazes. I hate haunted houses... But I'm fine with playing scary video games. In fact, I have the Ju-on Wii Haunted House game this year. *rubs hands evilly*

I probably won't be dressing. It's just too expensive for a costume, and I can barely find t-shirts that I like much less some skanky clothing.

I will be sitting on my couch with popcorn watching Halloween - any of them but H2O is fine with me - and RHPS and...that's about it. My boyfriend takes his kids out in the old neighborhood with the whole family, and I live in a fourplex and none of my neighbors give out candy or open the door. I might put a bowl of candy out this year though - it's not so much that I feel bad for the kids (they get plenty) but I don't want my building or my truck egged because we didn't participate LOL. I haven't dressed up since I was married and my MIL had parties every year. I'm good with that though because it's really never been my holiday.

I'm going to be a pirate..We have an annual Halloween party because I love dressing up and this is the best excuse for it. My husband wants to be a zombie so I'm going to attempt to put on a latex prosthetic and do the makeup...I've never done that before so hopefully it turns out looking somewhat decent.

I wish I had the problem of being too small. My issue is the opposite! Seems they think people my size shouldn't be allowed the opportunity to be sexy.

I usually buy make up from them (and ordered costumes) for the theater and they're very good with shipping and replacements if something goes wrong. If I can't find something at another costume/make up/wig site, I can always find it here.

I dress up every year without fail and go to probably three different parties with two or three different costumes. I love Halloween! No kids though

Well it's not just the teens. Kids YOUNGER have even tried to start something. I was dressed to scare people at my friend's haunted house... and this kid kept shining a light in my eyes and even tried to hit me with his sack of candy and forced ME to back off. All i was trying to do was my job via scaring, and this 10 year old is trying to be violent. He was with a group of friends all around his age, maybe a brother or two as well, and no parents in sight. If his mom or dad were there I surely would have spoken to them about his behavior as his aggression caused my cardboard 5 foot long knife to bend and my helmet to tear. (I dressed as Pyramid Head that year.)

Kids are dangerous lately. You don't even know if they're holding a gun on them. I REALLY wanted to go to Knott's Scary Farm, but I heard gang members go all the time and sneak in knives and drugs. Not something I want to get involved in.

My daughter is wanting to go as the mad hatter this year.
