Depression is always with me, and it increases during the holidays. I throw myself into my job and eat too much junk food.

Nah but I always have depression, and it often falls on the holidays. Nothing I can do about that, but really I love the season~

I suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, so it's not the holidays themselves that make me depressed, the lack of sunlight does.

Thank heavens for the invention of full-spectrum lightbulbs because I'm doing pretty well this season.

it's not abnormal to have depression at this time. winter bums me out a little...but, i'm lucky enough to have family and a wife...and that helps. if i had neither of those, i would probably have a hard time of it. as it is, the hoidays actualy help me with the winter blues.

This year might be hard as my mother passed away recently but usually I just find it hard to get too excited about festive things.

It only makes me depressed a bit because with my panic disorder it's hard to show up anywhere.

I am a huge Christmas fan so I get very happy and this is our first year at Christmas as husband and wife so very special for us. However, I do know people who get depressed around the holidays and sometimes I don't feel that I get as excited as normal.

Only a little. I guess that's because this year my dad and brother get to visit the rest of my family while I'm stuck here.

I don't have clinical depression, but I do get anxious because of the stress of shopping/travel/dealin g with lots of people. Also, I always spend it away from my SO (we choose to stay with our respective families), so it's pretty lonely.

I don't like the holidays in general though. I wish we didn't need this type of scheduled excuse to have "family time" in such a concentrated way (just saw everyone for thanksgiving afterall). It's so much nicer to have leisurely get together on, say, birthdays. I'm just waiting for it to be over!

A little bit, I won't lie. I'm in the process of going no contact with almost everyone in my family so the holidays make me wish I had a normal, healthy, functional family to celebrate with.

YES! We were just talking about this. I consider holidays a couples thing, so they're depressing for the singles at least. Plus, too much emphasis is placed on stuff that I don't consider to be important.
