When I had pets, I would buy them toys and treats all year round and then a little something nicer for the holidays. They get just as excited as we do.
My dog has a special condition where it is NOT ok to feed him dog treats (unless they're low fat or a special kind of diet treat) because we cannot afford for him to gain weight. We also don't buy him bones because bones are not, NOT safe for dog consumption. They too can choke and die from bits getting lodged in their throat.
I usually don't buy him anything because he hates wearing any type of clothing because it's too warm where I live for him to be wearing sweater/ shoes/ etc. and he usually eats his way out of his pet clothes.
We try to buy him pet toys and beds, but he usually loses interest in toys (and prefers to eat my sister's undies instead), and since he sleeps in our beds or on pillows, it seems like a waste of money (he also has a tendency to pee in the pet bed).
Honestly, my dog doesn't understand the concept of holidays and the only thing he really wants is to be there "helping" us open our presents.
Christmas is coming, and the crazy cat lady in me is looking for little stockings to fill with kitty treats.
Do you buy Christmas/birthday/oth er holiday gifts for your pets? What kind of things do you get them?
my boyfriend took me to a pottery place this week to custom paint bisque food bowls for each of my kitties for christmas. what a sweetheart!
i got his dog a studded brown leather collar.
and i'll be getting the kitties either a cat tree or cat beds. its too much fun to spoil kitties! its a great excuse, the holidays, the buy gifts for your pets.
Our Golden Retriever, whose name is ROSIE, has her own stocking too. Plus we get her MORE toys and chews than the rest of the family gets in presents. We spoil her and she loves it!
The only thing I bought for him was a fleece-lined vest, no toys nor treats. He's really picky when it comes to toys, he only likes ONE of his many squeaky balls. It's a waste of money to get him more toys, because he'll group them at one spot, and never touch them at all. I cannot buy him treats neither, because he has an extremely sensitive stomach, and his vet said to stay completely away from treats.
We are pet free now, but when we we had them they always had their own stockings and Santa always filled them up. Busy balls, catnip toys and a new collar with a bell for cats. Chew toys and fetching toys for the dog.
I love my puppy and I will getting home a toy that he will destroy Christmas morning. He even has his own stocking. I get to open up his gifts. We spoil him. For me as a pet. I already know I will be getting gifts. Thank you my wonderful owner.
I just wouldn't be able to handle opening gifts on Christmas day and looking over to my bunny to see the sadness in his eyes. He has to get gifts! I even wrap them so he can tear off the paper. Mostly, though, I get him treats.
My dog also has a stocking..We fill it with some toys and Christmas colored dog treats. She also gets a giant candy cane rawhide chew. She is a big part of the family.

not usually, but my son is insisting the cat have a stocking this year. Then when he saw Santa, and he asked what he wanted for christmas, he said he wanted Train sets, and The cat wants a cat bed. So this year, Yes, the cat is getting a christmas present
