No I don't get sad around xmas. After the hype/day is over I do feel an emotional crash though.

The only reason to get sad around Christmas is looking back and realizing you haven't done shit all year, which is more about new years than Christmas.

Bah Humbug. Can't stand the stuff. My dad died when I was 14, a week before Christmas, then I followed that up two years later by getting into retail, and spending 15 years there. The holidays really bring out the worst in people. I have tried, at my husband's insistence, to get into it more... but I can't. Neither of us is in retail anymore, but he works a LOT that time of year. So, while I want nothing to do with it, I am stuck decorating and shopping, while he scrambles on Christmas Eve to find me a gift, for a day I want no part of. Extremely frustrating.

I enjoy, though, being a part of other peoples' celebrations. I like the parties, and the eggnog. I love the music! I mostly don't like the gift exchange, to be honest. Forced generosity.

I get sad around the holidays if I won't be having much contact with my family and friends. If it weren't for them, the holidays would be totally pointless!

I don't really celebrate Xmas or any other of those holidays but I do some gift exchanges with family and loved ones. I find that if you get a lot of sunlight, don't spend to much, and don't over-do it, the holidays can be a happy and not a stressful/sad time.

Only when I think about my aunt who died Christmas Eve. I hate that since then Christmas was never the same.

I stay pretty sad around the holidays. When your family members all have new families and your spouse doesn't invite you to spend time with his/her family... it is a terribly lonely holiday. Everyone has some where to be except me.

I do get sad around Christmas but it's actually more of a nostalgic sad. I remember my childhood and think of how good things used to be before it all hit the fan. Me and my brother always had a really nice Christmas with the tree and presents and everything. It brings back so many good memories for me. I love Christmas time because I just love thinking of those memories.

I'm not even religious and I get sad around Christmas time. Not completely sure why even.

I love Christmas and definitely believe in the magic of it. However, I do feel a bit of sadness when I think of loved ones lost and what different Christmas is without them.

I like Christmas and what it stands for but I do get sad sometimes..missing my mom who loved to decorate, missing having little ones around for surprises, and the commercialism of it all.
This year was exceptionally sad as we had to put our beagle of 10 years to sleep in Sept and she was like a kid to us. Then 2 days before Christmas, our daughter had to put her dog to sleep..our only "grandchild."
My family was together and it was a good day but I was still sad. None of us would mention either fur baby but it was on my mind and hopefully I did a good job hiding it for everyone else's sake.

Being atheist, and the actual "reason for the season" doesn't fill me with any sort of joy.

I DO however feel a communal sense of cheerfulness and merriment.

I never feel sad because it is my JOB to entertain and cause happiness wherever I go.

I guess what I'm trying to say is stop while I'm working and ill turn that frown upside down!
