I call it stuffing. I believe it's mostly a regional term, but to me they're basically the same thing.

Stuffing.

Is there a difference?

They are the same ingredients. If it was stuffed into the turkey it's stuffing, if it was cooked in a separate dish it's dressing.

Dressing for me.

Ehh, I'm not really big on either.

I've read that cooking it inside the turkey isn't the safest.

If it's the same thing, I really like whatever it is!

There actually is a difference:
Stuffing is when you actually cook it in the bird.
Dressing is when you cook it on the side.
I like both.

I'm from Pittsburgh and have migrated south. Everyone around me calls it dressing and that makes me think of salad. I don't really eat a whole lot of stuffing or dressing or any other thing it might be referred to as, but I still think dressing sounds weird.

i like stuffing but just because it seems moister..

Though I'm not your posterchild for either, as I'm not the biggest fan, I'd prefer stuffing. I always eat a bit, and a few bites are fantastic, but after that, I'm done.

Dressing because of the controversy over stuffing a turkey.

Interesting, I never knew there was a difference. My family calls it stuffing regardless of how it's made, heh

CHICKEN 'N' DRESSING IS WHERE IT'S AT!
I went to my husband's family's house to celebrate Thanksgiving this year, but my gramma made me my very own pan of chicken and dressing.
So I literally at a 9" x 13" pan of dressing by myself yesterday, as hubby is not fond of my gramma's dressing. Yay for me!
