We got a real Christmas tree this year and I just love the smell of the branches and it makes the entire house smell like pine. They're hard to take care of and can be messy, though.

Do you like to get a real tree or a fake one for the holidays?

I'm really glad I looked at what forum this was in because I about dismissed it as another poll about real vs fake boobies!
My family used to have a really "high quality" fake tree. But then a friend of the family got proposed to next to it, and we gave them the tree as like a funny wedding gift token of their relationship type thing. This year we aren't having a tree at all, though the part of my family who we're spending the actual christmas holiday with does have their tree up.
When I have a tree I definitely prefer it to be real. I love the smell and the going to pick it out and get it. It's so much more of an experience

I like fake ones. They don't make as much of a mess and it means di don't have a cut down a tree.

I have a massive 10 foot fake tree we've had for years. I say every year I'm gonna get a smaller one, but the damn thing always goes back up!

Artificial trees are so much easier to deal with. No worries about keeping it watered, and clean-up is a lot less trouble.

Hmm, I think I answered a thread like this before, but, overall, we use a fake tree for the sake of convenience and better than cutting down a tree just for decoration and all, you know? They also last for years.

A fake tree. It's just easier to use. Eventually we will get a live one, when my daughter is old enough to pick one out

Have a small fake, will upgrade eventually, probably to a fake tree with lights in it already. Christmas decorating isn't really something I'm into. Bah-humbug! I like to enjoy looking at other people's work more than my own.

I live alone (well... with a roommate but he's been out of the country for awhile) and it isn't worth the time or effort to me to put up a tree. I'm a single guy. So basically, I don't care enough to bother decorating. Christmas doesn't really mean all that much to me.

I prefer a fake tree. It's not sticky, you don't have to sweep up the pine needles every week, you don't need a tree skirt, and you don't have to figure out how to dispose of it after the holidays. You just put it back in the box and back in storage.

Fake tree devotee here, although sometimes I wonder what it would be like having a real one since we never did.
We use the fake ones because you can use them year after year and they don't need looking after like watering or sweeping up the needles.

While I would love a real tree one day, fake is so much cheaper, and less of a mess. We use the same tree every year, so it has some meaning behind it as well.
