Valentines day! Presents vs Perfect Night

Contributor: xgreatlovex xgreatlovex
I'm thinking this valentines day would be way better if we spent our money on the experience and not on presents, like a long weekend in a hotel?

Is there really such a world with both? lol

Lol, it depends on.
For me a long weekend in a hotel would be better to me.

Gifts are nice, but all I really want right now is to be with him.

I'll take a date with a sexy Brit guy that involves high quality chocolate and a revival of my dead libido.

I love experiences, I would much rather share an experience together than get a physical present.

I think in almost any circumstance, a wonderful experience is better than an actual gift.

I agree with everyone else, experience trumps present for sure.

I would much rather have the experience than the present.

This has been our philosophy since hubby and I first got together over 10 years ago. It was all my idea too. He was floored that a woman wouldn't want to be spoiled on Valentine's Day. I told him I though it was a bullshit made up holiday. Which it is. He insisted on at least taking me out to dinner, though, that first V-Day. Ever since, that's been our tradition. It's evolved into a romantic diner and a night at a nice hotel, but we still don't exchange any type of gifts.

Definitely the experience.

I don't really care for presents - I buy my own. That way I get exactly what I need or want.

I love Valentine's Day. I don't think women should expect fancy dinners and diamond earrings.

I love the warm feeling and seeing the sweet acts of love around. It makes me all giddy that the world doesn't like total assholes for one day.

I buy my boyfriend a gift, and sometimes he'll buy me something.

One year he bought me pull and peel twizzlers and made them into flowers and every place we have dinner he makes me origami frogs and we name them together.

Yeah, i love him. lol

Going someplace low key where its just the two of us would be perfect. Gifts can't replace memories.

Even if you just do something special at home, I know I appreciate the effort more than the physical gift. Show your mate that you care about their needs and that you love and appreciate them and you can't go wrong.

We have never really "celebrated" V-Day. It really is a BS day if you ask me. However, this year it sort of gives me an excuse to purchase some toys strictly for him and since he will be coming home just before V-Day (after being gone a month)I plan on putting them to good use, showing him how much I missed him. So I guess the toys will add to the 'experience' so to speak. I hope it will be memorable!
