Usually it was New years eve day but last year we took it down the day after Christmas! With a one year old we wanted to get the house back to normal and organize all the new toys. This year...we will see.

This is when we take ours down. It's real, so the ornaments and stuff come off and then it goes out the next garbage day. The town picks them up and composts them.

If it's still doing well and not drying out and dropping needles like crazy....we keep it around a week into January...by then I'm ready to move on, clean up after the rush of the holidays and start fresh with a clean, undecorated house!

About a week, maybe 2 depending on what is going on. There has been an old saying take your Christmas Tree down before the New Year kicks in because if you dont its bad luck. You're taking all the bad things with you from last year. Which I never understood this one because alot of people resuse the same tree every year, especially an artificial one.
