Fascinated isn't the word, but I still enjoy them (old and new). I never liked Timothy Dalton as Bond and Lazenby was kind of a different genre.

I like Connery, Craig, Brosnan and Moore equally. I saw skyfall recently and Watched some of From Russia with Love just last night. Hadn't seen that in ages.

We are working our way through each Bond film in order, and we just watched Octopussy. We pretty much like all of the Bonds, but prefer the newer films. The really old ones were just so out there for the enemies and technology.

It seems that the spy stories are more realistic today with Daniel Craig! But Sean Connery is and was a classic; I agree!

I feel Daniel Craig comes closest of any actor so far to the spirit of Ian Fleming's character. Connery was also excellent in a completely different way. I always felt Roger Moore's Bond was almost a cartoon character — but I still enjoyed his films. Pierce Brosnan was also fun, but really just OK. I didn't think Lazenby really "got it".

Timothy Dalton's a great actor (arguably the most talented to play the role), and might've been a great Bond, but was sunk, in my opinion, by fairly weak scripts. It seems like they were trying to create a "sensitive, New Age Bond" and that made for dull viewing, especially in Licence to Kill. Maybe it had as much to do with the times as anything else.

I think you can see each Bond actor as a reflection of his times: Connery's macho swagger, Moore's playboy cheesiness, Dalton's weary sensitivity, Brosnan's lighthearted charm, and Craig's brutal coldness.

I do have to agree with you! Daniel Craig does seem to be in a more 'serious' mode playing the JB role.
