Wow...the Russians went dry? I'm sort of impressed.

Ha!

Well, it's top notch (great writing, great cast, great premise). It's about organized crime in Atlantic City during the prohibition era. HBO really should have started this show the season after the Sopranos ended!

Do you think it's historically accurate?

I just assumed, that because it was so high profile, that more people would be familiar with the show.

I'm one of those sick twisted people who don't have HBO.

It's based on historical events & historical people, but I think a lot of the individual stories are fiction.

I actually don't either, we don't have cable at all. I watch everything online or via download.

Oh ok, that's cool. Gives them a lot more room to work with the characters. Now I kind of regret not being able to make a decision between Showtime and HBO...we ended up with the Starz package of movie channels.

Back to that instant gratification problem of mine...I'd never remember to go look at them online to find them. I know Netflix and Xbox teamed up, but it's just another fee on top of the ones we already have.

But anyway...so what's Buscemi's character like? Is he as ruthless as the pictures lead us to believe?

Ha! The only things I associate with those two are: SHO has Dexter, and HBO has Boardwalk.

I wanted Showtime for Californication. Duchovny makes my world spin!

Oh and did my eyes deceive me...is there full frontal nudity of both men and women in this show?

Oh yeah... he is the Crime Boss who runs Atlantic City. Steve Buscemi is so perfect for the role.

Oh yeah... there is so much graphic violence, nudity, and sex.

Brilliant! Fabulously brilliant! Duchovny is always, always in trouble. He's a sex fiend and a half, but tries to be a good dad when the kid is around. Becca (the kid) is sassy and spot on in her assessments of situations.

Lucky Luciano...wasn't that name used in Goodfellas?

What kind of trouble? Crime trouble, or relationship trouble? Is it a comedy, drama, etc?

Durh, my bad. It's a dramedy...and mostly relationship trouble. In the first season, he ended up sleeping with an underage girl. She broke his nose in the middle of sex.

You see he's madly in love with Becca's mother, but he kept breaking her heart by cheating on her with other women. So she left him, but they stayed good friends. They eventually got married in one of the seasons but it's been so long since I've seen an episode, I don't know where they are in the story now.

Lucky Luciano was a real NYC Mafia Don. He was born in Sicily, came to America when he was 10, and rose to power during prohibition.

The character wasn't in Goodfellas, but you have definitely heard the name in other places.

Duchovny plays a writer, mom is a musician and the kid is just the kid. He's also quite the coke abuser. Each episode lands him in jail, with a broken nose, or a squashed ego and a life lesson to be learned that he promptly ignores or forgets in the next episode.

Ahhh ok. Gotcha. Sometimes it's hard to know who was real and who wasn't.

And I never really followed it---the reality and ruthlessness is kind of gut wrenching.

Like the scene in Casino with the vice and then the baseball bats...makes me so nauseous. However, Donny Brasco was a breeze to watch.

Oh ok. I like David Duchovny, but aside from that movie Kalifornia (I think that is the title), and the X-files... I can't say I have seen him in much else.

This role is just so perfect for him. Check it out if you ever get a chance, but start from the beginning or it won't make any sense.

IMDB tells me that Gretchen Mol's character is portrayed as becoming a mother at 13. What's that storyline like?

Oh man... She starts off not being in the show very much, but as the story develops, she get more and more involved. Her son is one the main characters of the show. Without giving too much away, her back story & her relationship with her son is all pretty crazy. There are a lot of dark histories for all the characters.

Dabney Coleman plays the Commodore, the man who both in the real life & in the show, who founded Atlantic City. He is the father of Jimmy Darmody, the child Gretchen Mol's (Gillian Darmody)character had at age 13.

Dabney Coleman is great on the show, sort of a world class, rich, scumbag. (so much fun)

Wow...that's pretty intense. Actually, that's very intense. Did he marry her?
