Country music and race!

Contributor: Miss Anonymous Miss Anonymous
I'm curious why does it matter?

I myself love country music. I love the stories it tells, and the music just mean something. I don't care for rap music, I do have a couple of songs that are out today. Mostly music today is CRAP!! like really? I'm surprised its even called music. When people findout that my music list is mostly country, Michael jackson, old school music from like the 60's-80's. Most of them are like YOU'RE BLACK! WHY DO YOU LISTEN TO MUSIC LIKE THIS?

Why does your race have to impact your choice in music?
It annoys me to NO end.

what do you guys think?

race shouldn't have anything to do w/ what kind of music you like. i have a white friend who grew up in south georgia (accent & all), & she can't stand country music. she likes pop, hip hop, & rap. i like a lot of stuff. pop, hih hop, classical, jazz, oldies (like 60s & 70s), michael jackson (b/c lets face it, he's his own type of music). but i personally don't like country at all... except garth brooks, love him.

I listen to what sounds good to me which is a little bit of everything. I get this but with rap , guess most people don't expect a white lady and moma of 3 to bust outwith some lil wayne or jeezy lol . If i feel it I listen and don't care what other people think!

I don't think Race has any impact on what kind of music you like. I'm Chinese and just like you, I love the 60-80s and jazz, hate rap and those so-call crap music nowadays. I do listen to Country stations when I'm driving, that's the only time when I can really pay attention to the lyrics.

its stereotypical...becaus e your black you should listen to rap and talk like a thug I guess. Its even that way in movies.pathetic I think.I myself listen to all kinds of music. The only kind I dont enjoy is classical/jazz/opera.B ut its like sayn because Im white I should only listen to country or rock.....You think being 2011 people would be over judging by color and who they are because of there color.but apparently not.

I'm glad you don't like a genre of music just because your race is suppose to like it. Followers never have any fun

Why is the sky blue? There are some people who refuse to let go of stereotypes.

That's racist actually...isn't it?

I can't stand most country, gospel, or rap. I could just be ornery though

It annoys the crap out of me too, sister. I love old-school country, outlaw country etc (I loathe pop country) as well as opera, rap/hip-hop, and "oldies"...I'm Latina and my ornery butt chafes at stereotypes. I like what I like, and that's it!!

On the other hand, it annoys me when artists perpetuate this. I went to see David Allen Coe a couple of months ago and he sang one of his N-word songs from the 70's...like really dude? This is 2011!
