Disney Channel--oh how they've changed!

Contributor: Cowgirl-Cutie Cowgirl-Cutie
My child ends up watch a lot of Disney channel on some days. I can't help but notice that they've really changed over the years. When I was younger it seemed we had better shows than they do now. They taught morals and how to be yourself. Even the network made movies were pretty good.

Now though it seems that all of their shows have lost any moral value and it's just about being silly.

I don't get it...

Has anyone else noticed this?

Makes sense...this is why I watch ABC Family. (I don't have kids, I just like the shows.) The Good Witch series is one of my favorite Disney productions.

I miss cartoons... They used to have cartoons on Disney Channel like Gummi Bears and Darkwing Duck and stuff like that. All these new kid shows are killing me. So much for the good ol' days. I also really dislike new cartoons in general. They're not funny at all. I don't understand the youngin's sense of humour now a days. It's so glorified to be stupid or sound stupid... what the heck?

Does anyone remember the really weird cartoon they used to show called PB&J Otters?

When I was a kid I used to watch a ton of Disney Channel original movies. Does anyone else remember MotoCrossed?

I'm probably dating myself here, but I remember when they played "KIDS Incorporated" (you may know one of the young stars by her new name of Fergie). I also remember when they played their old series like "Zorro" and the like. They used to mostly show the stuff that once played on "The Wonderful World of Walt Disney" back in the 60's and 70's as well as their older animated and live action movies, not to mention their animated shorts from the 30's and 40's with all the classic characters (it was where I first saw Goofy and Chip&Dale in action). This was when video cassettes cost $80 each, and video rental places were still establishing themselves in the landscape.

*end random memory trivia*

There are still morals in some of them, but I can promise... there are little tidbits that are quite perverted. A.N.T. Farm in particular has had a few moments when my niece was watching where I was so very amazed that some of the crap being ran was allowed.

That is why they have added Disney Channel JR. I like that and Nick JR better then the regular channels. I also like the Sprout channel.

I completely agree. The shows now are crap.
