As the title says to you like it when TV shows and the like do musical episodes when they are not normally musically inclined?
Do you like musical episodes of otherwise not musical things?

Musical episodes seriously irk me. I hate them with a passion and usually walk away from them wondering how the show could do such a horrible thing to its fanbase.

Usually if they do it seriously as if it was a good thing, I just can't stand it, unless they manage to parody other musical episodes, then I somehow like it, and I'll find it amusing. Pure irony.
PS I also HATE Disney singing. They overdo it.

They have to be pretty damn good.

depends on the show, but usually yes. Especially the simpsons, I have most of them on my ipod.

Musical episodes themselves don't bother me, but characters will. I always change the channel when Glee comes on, I hate the character Jane Lynch portrays with a passion! I can't even stand watching commercials with her in it!

Doesn't matter to me - if it's a show I like I'll keep watching even if they're singing.

Sometimes I love them, sometimes I hate them. It depends on my mood more than anything. There will be episodes I see multiple times, and one day I'll like the singing, one day I won't.

I don't like the random "break out in a song" type thing, and it happens all the time..lol..I don't know though. It really does just depend on the show.

The buffy musical and the daria musical were epic.

The Daria musical was pretty great. I also enjoy the musical elements of HIMYM; the musical episode of Grey's Anatomy was one of my least favorite.

I loved the Buffy musical.

It was cool in Grey's

Anyone remember 'Cop Rock'?
Enough said.
(I also come a musical theatre background and never understood why television has to butt into our turf when their shows aren't suited to musical numbers. Many of the writers don't know how to segue into a number properly, so it often seems forced and contrived. Although I was highly entertained by the Rocky Horror/Priscilla musical battle on 'The Drew Carey Show' several years ago.)

She's irritating as hell, isn't she? I don't know who she appeals to, and I think her flip manner and outright meanness (not even on the show, but her public persona) is very unattractive.

No, I can't stand them. They ruin the show for me.

Depends on the show, and the execution.

If it's done well it can be very entertaining. Unfortunately, that is incredibly rare. The episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold with Neil Patrick Harris was awesome and lots of fun (yes, I watch cartoons. No, I will not grow up.). It has quite a few Phantom references amongst others. Good stuff!

To answer my own question it depends on the episode. The scrubs episode was good, to get nostalgic It was funny when Power Rangers did it ( *In Opera Voice* Let's Stop this Crime! Its Morphing Time!)
However on the other hand we have stuff like the Sanctuary Musical episode, a horrible half assed, logical inconsistent, (ok I get we're singing to the abnormal because of yada yada plot device but why are they randomly singing in place where there is no plot device?), auto-tuned, mess that focused on the worse character on the show (really a musical episode focusing on Will's annoying girlfriend?) The worse episode of an overall crappy season.

Love when Joss Whedon did musical episodes.

The Grey's Anatomy one was REALLY awkward. It was like they went by song title and not what the song actually meant.

There was a great How I Met Your Mother episode that ended in a song and dance number...Barney & company singing "Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit." I would link to it, but there is not a good video on youtube.

Musical episodes are pretty awesome when they are done well, last one I saw was Syfy's Sanctuary which was.... bad.

Really depends on the show
12/10/2011
If they're well done I love them!

The Scrubs musical was AMAZING.

It depends on the show, but I usually like musical episodes.
