Considering my mother is a reality show fanatic and we have to share one tv, the DVR is my best buddy when I actually want to watch something.
I have anything I like to watch set to record automatically these days.

Hulu mostly has mainstream episodic programming. A DVR comes in handy if I want to watch my local news, an awards show, any sports, or a movie on Turner Classic Movies that hasn't been released on DVD.

Also, Hulu offers some shows only for a finite amount of time. I often will record an entire season of a program and watch it only if the show doesn't end up sucking or getting canceled.

Use a computer as a DVR. Paying a monthly fee to record TV is silly. I find it strange that people are commenting that DVRs aren't worth the money.

Never suspected we would use this, but for some shows we like to watch (America's Got Talent, for instance), it is great to be able to watch it when WE have a few minutes.
