How often do you fail to finish a book?

2 in 30 years. They were just too horrible. I also have a compulsion to finish-no matter how bad.

I do this a lot, I finish probably about 25% of the books I start

Only if they're awful - which includes a lot of "classics of literature" as well (the only ones I read through were in class - I had many bad things to say in my essays).
I suspect that if Prozac was available during the past few centuries, there'd be less depressing crap written.
It also doesn't help that most works were paid on a "per-word" basis, so writers had to suffer dysentery of the pen back then.

Very rarely I might stop for a month or 2 but I always finish them

Pretty rarely. It has to be a terrible book. Some of the longer dry books have taken me months, but I've almost always finsied
