Law Enforcement Media Research Project-Help?

Contributor: ~LaUr3n~ ~LaUr3n~
I have been working on a very important research paper for my masters. I even got an exstension it because I was having problems with the IIRB. Now my problem is that I need a certain amount of respondents and for every 10 I get, some of them are thrown out.

So...as a last resort I decided to post this here. Please use the link to take the survey for my project. MUCH APPRECIATED!

The only requrements:

Live in the USA

link

I don't ask for anything identiying, your email, name, etc. It is anonymous.

I thought I could turn this into a discussion also:

Do you like Law Enforcement? Do you feel your viewing of all those Cop shows (real or non) influences your opinions in anyway?

I tried to submit it, but it won't let me because I have not watched any of those TV shows. Lol. Sorry, at least I tried though!

And to answer your question, I think everyone "likes" law enforcement in their communities in general, but whether it's working well is another story. Most of the tv shows portray law enforcement as being much more effective and efficient than it is in real life. That's based on personal experiences in several states.

Oh no! I should have put that in the requirements. Sorry hun. Thanks so much for trying though.

And thank you to the other 9 people who have already done it.

Some shows do yes. 3 of the shows I included portray negative opinions.

Thanks guys!

No problem. At least other people will know now that they have to watch cops shows.

sent I love almost all of the shows you listed. I don't find that my opinion on law enforcement has changed much from watching the shows, but I do feel more sympathetic to what they have to go through on a daily basis. I mean, It is their job to give speeding tickets, it isn't something fun to do (for the majority)it is just a job.

Its probably too late now but you might consider adding a 'don't know' option. I really have no idea about probation officers.

I've received enough speeding tickets that I feel more nervous than others whenever I see a cop if I'm in my car.

Once, when my son was about 3, we saw a couple of cops on a city street and I asked him if he knew what they were. He said "They're cops and they're going to give you a speeding ticket." Even he noticed my traffic record.

And its an unrealized fantasy of mine to do a cop in uniform.

I try to tell myself that, just because it's possible on TV, doesn't mean it's possible in real life...

I'm always a little putout when there isn't solid DNA evidence or something like that in real life, though. TV, it has jaded me

These shows do seem to jade some people. Remember the Ted Binion trial? The jurors voted 'not guilty' because the evidence wasn't as good as what they saw on CSI!

Yea too late. I know there are flaws and typos in the survey, but at this point I just need to get it done and have enough respondents.

Putting a 3 as neutral is fine by me.

LOL 3 year olds!

Ummm yea...that was pathetic.

I think negative cop shows can jade people too.

Not a big fan of cops. Around where I live, they're infamous for being douch-bags. No offense to anyone, it's not personal..

I think that public perception is better when the police officers are "known" in a general area and there's some level of relationship rather then them being someone that people probably have never met before.

usually.

There was a State cop that EVERYONE had a problem with in the county he was stationed. When I was 16 he followed me around for about month because the 87 Plymouth Horizon my mom and I shared was old and burned oil. He ended up driving his patrol car drunk one day and lost his job. NO ONE liked this guy. Unfortunately, people remember the worst and don't know the best.
