I've seen polls asking if people read/write fanfiction, but I'm more curious about which stories and/or tv shows you write about.
Of the people who read/write fanfiction, which is your favorite?

Lessee ... I was into 'Project A-Ko' (anime), 'Ranma 1/2' (manga/anime), 'The Big O' (anime), 'Harry Potter', and then 'Doctor Who' (my own version of 11 back in 2007). I dabbled in writing scripts for 'The X-Files' back in high school. The last so-called fanfiction I wrote was a steampunk sequel to 'Alice in Wonderland'.
Any of my stuff that somehow ended up online - either by my ex-husband or my best friend's doing - usually had huge fan followings and accusations of being one of the writers of the show ... in point of fact, I was accused by friends of being one of the writers of 'Supernatural' because I wrote that type of stuff. I hadn't even heard of it at that point.
I like playing in others' universes. I tend to make logical extrapolations on minor details that end up changing the direction of the series or world. Not to mention address some subject matters that the real writers either won't or can't tackle ... this may be the reason I was accused of being a show's writer.
Haven't done it for a while, except for 'Alice'. I lost my interest in fanfiction writing when my ex-husband and I separated and divorced. He was my writing partner.

Homestuck, but so far it's all on a private account. I'm not super comfortable with my style yet, so I'm keeping it under wraps while I refine my technique

I read Naruto hehe I used to read a lot of Final Fantasy VII and Harry Potter though... and I've kidn-a-sorta written a couple of Naruto fanfiction e_e but idk about them XD I tend to sway down the dark uhhh questionable themes route...
I only really have one author that I'm sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for her to write again and to finish her novel ;
Okami-Rayne B|
there are a few other awesome writers but... she's beyond awesome XD there's so much of a psychological element in her writing that most fanfiction authors lack.

Are there people who only get into one fandom?

I've written for loads of stuff, from Lord of the Rings to South Park, and from Homestuck to A Song of Ice and Fire. I've written for Harry Potter, Sherlock, Inception, The Social Network... lots of stuff.
I write things that I get inspired to write for.

Fanfiction is just what it sounds like, though. It's stories written by fans about the characters/universe/st ory that someone else created.
In a way, there's quite a bit of published fanfiction. Any of those Star Wars novels not written by the people who wrote the films originally? The sequel to Dracula written by Bram Stoker's nephew or whatever? The most recent Hitchiker's Guide novel by Eoin Colfer?
Technically, they're all fanfiction, just official.
If you want good examples, stay away from fanfiction.net, and check out Archive of our Own.
