It's for ratings. The same with keeping Lafayette alive.. They have changed so many things from how it was in the books.

On one hand, I'm sad because it makes me really angry at Sookie and Lafayette for doing this to her knowing full well that she hates vampires and now she's going to have a miserable existence forever reminded of that rapey vampire encounter.
On the other hand... She is going to be a seriously cool vampire with her personality and looks.

Umm...wtf? I only get to see these when they come on DVD as I don't have HBO. I have read the books though and I certainly don't remember that being in there. It's been a while since I've read them and maybe I'm mistaken?

I love the True Blood show, but it's so far from the books at this point that even having read them I have no freaking idea what's going to happen in the show. That's sad. The books were fine the way they were and there was more than enough material to keep the show going. I'm not sure I understand the point of changing it up so much.

Well, it does say "based" on the books. which doesn't necessarily guarantee that it will be exactly like the books

Well to be honest the books were way off from the start. Lafayette isn't really Tara's cousin in the books, Tara isn't black, Lafayette should already be dead...I could go on and on for a while but you get the picture.

I haven't read the books, but I would treat the two as separate things. And I think turning her into a vampire is kind of crazy. But if she stops being such a frustrating character, I'm all for it.
