What do you think of Youtube taking down music? I'm sure everyone's come across at least one instance in which a youtube video had no sound or a video was taken down entirely because of the music on it.

Do you think they should do this or not?

WTF? No, this is the first I have heard of this news. Do you mean music videos or anything that has music in it, I am confused?!

Sometimes they take down videos with audio that's copyrighted. Unfortunately, the copyright laws have gotten so convoluted, it's hard to tell what's a legitimate reason to take down and what's someone being picky

Is that what happened? I was trying to listen to a Mumford and Sons song but it was just an empty black box. I hope this changes.

It's pretty dumb. If I want to know about a band I heard, I usually look them up on youtube. It's especially dumb when a normal video with a 30 second music clip gets its entire video muted. The argument could be made not to upload someone's entire discography, but taking videos down for private use of a song that isn't even the focal point of a video is overkill.
