Pelvic floor muscle pain?

Contributor: Backseat Boohoo Backseat Boohoo
This has been happening for a couple of years, so I never thought much of it, but it happened about 30 seconds before I started typing up this topic, and it was absolutely AWFUL.

Sometimes, out of absolutely nowhere, all of my pelvic floor muscles with constrict, with gives me this intense, cringe-worthy, sharp, stabbing pain that literally makes me stop whatever I'm doing and groan. This recent PFM tightening didn't make my vaginal muscles constrict too much, but usually they tighten to the point where it feels like my vagina is trying to crawl into itself, or like somebody is stabbing pins in to my vulva.

I'm sorry that it is so hard to explain, but I can't think of any other ways to describe it. It's the most painful thing I've ever felt, and it happens to me about several times a month. A couple of my friends said it happens to them occasionally, but not to the extent I get it (where it renders me helpless to do anything for about 10-20 seconds).

Anybody know what's going on?

I've dealt with so much pain in the last 2 years it's not even funny. The only way you can know is if you get a pelvic exam as well as a transvaginal u/s.. sometimes those don't even work and you have to have a lap.

All my pain is because of Endometriosis and cysts from having PCOS. I searched google for an entire year looking for people with similiar issues and it took a lot, A LOT of just wading through bs after bs medical page until I found what I was looking for. With Endo I get these random cramps, just out of nowhere they hit and I've fallen over from them or I've had my knees give out from under me. Every day for 2 months I lived on Vicodin and Tramadol. The pain would either be in my cervix or deep within my uterus, it took a lot of gynecologists and registered endocrinologists to actually diagnose the problem. I had one trying to tell me it was vaginismus and I was being treated for the wrong thing for over a month. Sigh.

The only way you'll know what's going on is if you're insistent with your health care professional to check you out.

I thought of endometriosis too. I don't have it but my sister does and it causes her quite a bit of pain. Ovulation can cause brief pain like that and some women ovulate more than once/month I'm told. Do see a doctor about it. That's always a good idea when you're having any kind of pain in your female parts.

I have similar problems. Everyone (my doctor included), suspected it was endo. It turned out to be an extremely rare condition called Taylor's Syndrome. Because it went untreated for so long, I've got a lot of problems. I'm someone who always wanted to have kids, and I've just been told that I have maybe a year or two of fertility left. I'm 23 years old. Whether I manage to have a kid in time or not, I'm looking at a full hysterectomy in the next couple of years and a lifetime of problems after that.

Moral of the story: Go to a doctor. It might be nothing serious, but it's not worth the risk.

I get a pain kinda like this too. I don't think it's the same thing (I'm a guy).

Sometimes after having my O, I get a steady aching pain in my bum. It almost feels like when you pass a really big stool, but sans stool. It goes away after a half hour or so.

I asked a doctor about it once and he told me it could be from over or under use.

Is this common for other guys too?
